It wasn't too nice a drive coming back from Bournemouth late yesterday evening with snow most of the way East of the M23 and lying snow on the high downs above Maidstone on Dettling Hill.

About an inch of snow so far down here in Lancing, being blown around by a pretty strong easterly wind which certainly feels things feel pretty chilly.... roads are still clear so expect that we will be playing our match tonight. ::) ;D

Crazy that the local Council hasn't gritted any of the roads.... forecast has been saying for days that we would have snow but nothing done in advance - or even once it started snowing! :o >:(
We have probably had about 4 inches of snow here now and it's still coming down.... the roads between Lancing and Brighton are covered in snow and ice and there have been multiple accidents all over the place.... the main A27 Brighton By-Pass was closed earlier, cars and buses are abandoned on hills around Portslade and Southwick. ::)
Ian Lelliott and I have just spent the last 4 hours in the car.... to travel a total of less than 10 miles to try to get to a Doubles match at the Brewers.... my partner H and our opponents did manage to get there travelling from the opposite direction to me, although all of them were nearly 3 hours after we were meant to play but sadly one of them couldn't stay any longer as he had to get home.
Obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, we should have cancelled the match.... but having all spent more than an hour in the traffic we decided it would be unfair on all of us to give up then.... ::)
Will have to try to re-arrange the game for another night.... :-/
Obviously, with a little foresight, the b****y council would have gritted the roads and we wouldn't have had so many problems....!! :P >:(

Bit of an understatement. Trees down everywhere (over 50) Abandened cars Airports, Harbours and schools closed. Storm force 10 winds Coastal flooding. Not many people venturing out at the moment. Update - Still snowing Tuesday morning - more snow forecast

My favourite and probably the best live webcam is the seafront one in Exmouth 8-) Go on, now tell me I'm a "peeping tommilko" ;D Keith :-*
