Stout House A home to Dun Horse (played at Stout House)
Dave running a bit late, Captains agreed to play from bottom of card.
Grant on first against Adam, very messy game with neither player making much. Adam got a break of about 1k5 going towards the end but, with the game in the bag, took the peg out leaving Grant a 200 shot for the frame. Grant’s shot was wide and Adam potted the 100 to win. :-/
Scott broke with over 2k against John. John had his chances through the game but was unable to get enough on the scoreboard to catch Scott.
Supersub Keith, dusted off for the occasion, played third against Pete. Neither player started particularly well, Keith just not getting to grips with the table. Pete on the other hand, racked up a very solid 3k break in the latter stages to make the game safe. A good performance for a relatively new player.
Colin up fourth against Gordon. Scrappy start just seemed to get worse for Colin, especially with Gordon rattling balls into the 100 hole from all angles. Couple of reasonable breaks from Gordon took the frame.
Once again, Dave on last against James. Dave broke with just under 1k then the game got lodged at the top of the table. James managed to get the break back a number of times and although not really capitalising, managed to get about 1500 in front with only a couple of minutes remaining. Dave somehow got the break back and racked up 1350 to leave a 200 finish which, fortunately, he potted to take the game. Having played at the Stout House last week, the Dun were reasonably confident before tonight. Just goes to show what a week can do. No 12k breaks tonight! ::) Still, given the closeness of a couple of the games a 3-2 either way was probably a fair result.
Stout House A 3 Dun Horse 2
James Norman 3420 Dave Simmons 3490 Gordon Carver 4270 Colin Bolton 1490 Pete Hartley 4200 Keith Etheridge 760 John Tidy 2000 Scott Hope 4080 Adam (Andy) Kuzimski 810 Grant Hope 550
Plenty of banter and yet more good Stout House food. We like playing here. ;)

Southwater b Versus Southwater A
The derby game in the village started off well for the Bs but gradually got worse.
After a poor night in the Horsham league, Tom kicked off against Tony Franks and commanded the match as soon as he hit the first ball. A 3k and then a 5.5 break saw Tom break 9k to put the Bs 1 nil up.
I missed the majority of match 2 due to a disgusting cigar break. Chris never got going for the Bs and lost by around 5k. The As levelled the score.
Match 3 was Gordan and Keith. Gordan and Keith traded blows throughout the game with Keith always just that little bit ahead. 2-1 to the As
Unfortunately, I missed this one completely as was down the Chinese buying our food. I understand Chris struggled a little in this match. 3-1 to the A's
Match 5 was Tony Temple and myself. Tony took an early lead but struggled with the break at first. The top was playing well but rustiness was showing for both Tony and I. After drawing level for a brief minute, I lost my nerve and Tony put another couple of thousand on to ensure the As came out on top.
Result...4-1 to the A Team!

Alfold Club Versus Stout House Z's
OK, firstly sorry for delay in posting result etc., but been a bit busy, still its worth waiting for, isn't it Z's ;)
Game 1 saw the 2 captains against one another. Vernon broke............... and thats about it!! Head down, bottom up and a score of 15,570, without leaving the table. Nothing The Major could do other than stand back and admire with the rest of us.
0 -1 to the Z's
Next game saw Richard from the Z's up against Garry. Rich struggled with the break at first allowing Garry to knock in 2.5k before pegging out. Richard then took control and though Garry had opportunities to get the break back could not get into his rhythm.
0 -2 to the Z's
Third up was Andy versus Trevor (for about the blooming 4th time in a row ???) Andy broke unconvincingly to allow Trevor to the table to hit a modest break, before Andy took control and it was another case of table watching for the Alfold player. 10k plus for Mr Finn was certainly enough to clinch the game.
0 - 3 to the Z's
Up next for the Z's was John against Cliff (The Minor). John started slowly allowing Minor to put some points on the board. Neither player played to their potential and it was very much nip and tuck before John squeezed ahead before letting Minor back in as the bar dropped, not allowing enough time (or points) to make a difference. The closest game of the evening.
0 - 4 to the Z's
Final game saw the in form Big (Jim) Silver Fox against Robin. Jim did not get the best start leaving the balls up after scoring low from the break. Robin did not take the opportunity to capatilise on this and only managed a modest break, before Jim stepped up and it was another case of the Alfold player being a spectator as he rattled in 14.5k to put the result beyond doubt. (not that the previous 4 results hadn't ::))
M Greening 0 V Sparks 15,570 G Fishburn 1,460 R Plaw 3,150 T Goacher 1,450 A Finn 10,840 C Greening 3,640 J Miller 4,560 R Burgess 480 J Greensted 14,970
Yet again a great night, with plenty of banter and laughs. Well Done the Z's.
Cheers to Malcolm for the Food ( and Rob for Bombay Spuds) - all very yummy.
