Many, many congratulations to Oxford A who won the Inter Area Cup at Kennington Social Club this evening against a very strong Wallingford A team. Although Wallingford won 3-2 on the night, Oxford take the title thanks to their remarkable 4-1 win at Goring in the first leg. Stuart Florey took the first tonight against Leon Beer and then Mark Trafford (on his own table) scored 17,950 against the break and against Tony Martin to take the title. Wallingford went on to take the last three games with Mark Turner scoring an excellent 16600 break in the third. This is Oxford first triumph in this competition since 1997 (amazingly) and Wallingford have monopolised things of late, holding the title for the last six years with either their A or B teams. The NBBA cup and individual trophies were presented by a face from the past, Mr David White and the club provided a really nice curry and chips to finish the evening off. Thanks to everyone who took part this year and don't forget to get your teams sorted out before the AGM on the 9th January. Forms will be appearing soon...... Scores tonight were; Stuart Florey 6690 Leon Beer 1990 Mark Trafford 17950 Tony Martin 890 Steven Sheard 420 Mark Turner 16600 Dave Tooke 1010 Phil Collins 11210 Kevin Godfrey 4030 Dennis Atkins 5900
cheers Tony

I would like to congratulate all of the Oxford A side on winning the Inter Area Cup, for unbelieveably the first time since 1997. :o
What a magnificent accomplishment to beat a quality team like Wallingford A 6-4 over the two legs, as all of these players have before at one time or another played in the England team.
Do I take it that Mark Turners excellent break of 16,600 is the highest away break in this year’s competition, if so, well done to him.
Also, may I say well done to Tony (treasurer) on keeping us informed of all results and tables on here and on the Inter Area website, in the absence of the secretary.
Well done to all.
Keith

Alan Oliver up to my old school trick of when the panoramic photo of the whole school taken, run round the back and try and appear in the photo twice? ;D

Good writeup, but names don't exactly match the photo. ;) This IS the Oxford Mail - they are worse than the Grauniad when it comes to errors... (except in Pete's Oxford league report usually of course!) ;D Tony
