Kennington SC 4-2 Red Lion
M Trafford 11,650 - 2630 J Bamsey K Hollis 4270 - 1540 C Winstone I Gordon 9660 - 140 I Moss Mark 8000 - 9640 Jon Keith 4660 - 5680 Colin Ian 4800 - 1750 Ian
Agg 43,040 - 21,380
Some very good games last night. I went in with enough in the first game. The second was scrappy with Keith just coming out on top. Ian Gordon played very well with a couple of 4k breaks. Jon went in with 3k, I then got 7.5k, then Jon almost finished off with 6k to win a high scoring 4th game. Keith went in with 4.1k, Colin then came back with 4.7k and then rest of the game was scrappy. Ian M lost opening break of 1.6k then bit scrappy until Ian G got a couple of k at the end.
Could have been a bigger winning margin for us, but could also have been a draw. All to play for next week with the reverse result probably favourite and coming down to aggregate.

Many, many congratulations to the Kennington SC team who took the Summer Cup for the second successive season with an aggregate win against the Red Lion at Cassington.
With the Kennington team 4-2 up from the first leg and an aggregate lead of 43,040 - 21,380, the stage was set for an excellent game and so it proved. In the first Jon Bamsey slipped up early on his break and Mark Trafford stepped up to take the point in style 3510-12100. Colin Winstone and Ian Moss then took the next two for the Lion and Jon Bamsey made it 3-1 with a revenge win on Mark's break 8790-3050. Colin then beat Ian Gordon again in a low scoring battle to put the Red Lion 6-5 up on games but with the aggregate in the Kennington Club's favour by 16,810. It was simply a matter of who won the last game - a victory for Kennington would ensure a win on aggregate and a victory for Red Lion would put them at 7-5.
The atmosphere was electric but last game itself was a dour affair with Ian Moss not being able to put any form together and the redoubtable Beefy Hollis taking full advantage to take the game and the match for Kennington.
Red Lion Kennington Jon Bamsey 3510 Mark Trafford 12100 Colin Winstone 5760 Ian Gordon 990 Ian Moss 5000 Keith Hollis 3020 Jon Bamsey 8790 Mark Trafford 3440 Colin Winstone 4390 Ian Gordon 3050 Ian Moss 1560 Keith Hollis 5740
Match aggregate was 29010-28340 and 4-2 to Red Lion Overall it was 6-6 and 71380-50390 to the Kennington Social Club
A good night was had by all and the trophies were kindly and graciously presented by Marianne French of the Bletchington Club.
Many thanks to Jan, landlady of the Red Lion, who provided some excellent food at the end.
Huge thanks also to all teams who played this summer and made it such an excellent competition. :D
cheers Tony

Beefy isn't happy with this fishman I played well holding my nerve to take the frame with a 4K break after losing my opening break through distraction from one of the other players talking to the scorer as I was playing. Its not my fault Mossy couldn't score when he had the chance to. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
