Does anyone know who is in what division this year? Nige?? ;D Last night we were told that we will be without Cambs, so we are a group of four, so that's three games, i'm hoping that we will be able to sort out arrangements so that we are not hanging around for hours on end waiting for a series. i take it we all agree on that?

Six games would be better (going round twice) just to make a better day of it. Otherwise if one side turns up a player short, one unlucky player on each side only gets two games which would throw out the 'rankings'. With so little time left we have to trust Nigel to find the best format. It's a bit of a nightmare for him, though.

It would the take 154 games to complete the day, which would require 20 series, which takes 8 hours, meaning an 8pm finish. I get enough complaints when we finish around 7pm! 144 games is pretty much the upper limit for these days with the 8 tables

Nigel, I know your job is difficult, but you will most certainly upset more people by having a non-worthwhile Div 2 than by just extending the day by an hour.
You say the limit is 144, and going round twice I agree takes 154 games. But the teams only playing three times in Div 2 makes it only 112 games.
(It's not as if we're asking for all-play all in one division : that would take 252 games and we would still be there at midnight !)
What do others think ?

Lovely!!!! We might have been able to get a Northants B team up or did that idea get kicked out a while back? I may be wrong so don't quote me on that one!!! :-X Unfortunatly our B Team was quite happy organising a team for these 7 a sides, and it made it quite an exciting and fun day out with us all coming down in a Mini-Bus and showing our support for a dying game. :-/ Last year though i believe i am right in saying this ( please correct me if i am wrong ) but because of the increase of B Teams entering the competition, our B Team was informed that they would be relegated from the league they were in and dropped down to the next group, which is played on a different day. Their main concerns over this was: surely if new teams entered the competition our B team should of stayed were they were and the other teams start at the bottom league. ??? And after all this on the day of the event if Northants B would of come down they would of been in our league after all, but instead Kent B was brought into our group :-/ So unfortunatly that cost us our B Team. I believe now that Bucks may not have a full team down on Sunday, so that would mean 1 of my team may only get 2 games for a day out of approx 12 hours :-/ It would be nice if it could be arranged to assist the Northants with the distance we travel to have the last series as a bye so if we are already out we can make our long journey home.. ;D Is this possible, i know these events are extremly difficult to organise but would be nice if it could be done.

I think going round twice wfor div 2 would make a better tournament, but I am certain I will get more complaints that way round than if I go for te 3 games each option.

Triplex, let me just make it clear what happened to Northants B.
In 2005 Nothants B took part in Division 2 and finished bottom below Kent B. Bucks failed to turn up for their place in division 1, so were to be relegated into Divisiomn 2 for 2006.
With Bucks’s return in 2006, this meant Northants B were the 11th placed county on the list and would therefore be placed with the new B sides to make up diviosn 3. So Kent B did not cost Northants their B side, they had the right to be in Division 2 over Northants B due to their higher finishing position in 2005.
Northants chose not to send a B side to the Division 3 last year, but were invited. I am sure you will understand it is impossible to run all 3 divisions on the one day. I can’t just allow one county to have both their sides in division 1 & 2 just so they can travel on the same day.
With regarding byes for Sunday, don’t forget that it is not only Northants who have far to travel but Kent also. Again I cannot fix the draw to suit certain teams. With 4 teams in div 2 there will be no bye anyway.

Thats not exactly how we remembered it... ???
Kent may have a long way to travel as well Nigel, but they not in our group so they will get all 4 games, where we may only get 2.. so for 1 of us that could be 1 game per 6 hours :-/
Please do not take this as a go at yourself, as its not. It just seems that we keep ending up with a low amount of games with very long gaps every time...

It just seems that we keep ending up with a low amount of games with very long gaps every time... I can't help that Northants got relegated and Kent did not! Ok 1 of your player may only get 2 games but I also can't help it if Bucks bring only 6. The loss of a team brings the total time of play to 5.6 hours. where all matches should be finished before 6pm. I don't get where you get the 1 game per 6 hours from, the format was never 12 hours long! I appreciate your frustration, but the fault lies with the counties that don't show. I am not taking what you say personally, but the situation of Northants B is exactly how I described it above and they are more than welcome back but would obviously have to start in Div 3.

I'm sure you would get some moans, but these would no doubt come from the top league for having their day extended. There would be few from the second league who are the ones who are suffering by having theirs distended. So it would be selfish of the A teams ! But it's okay for them, they've got their full programme. But then again, it is only right that they should have a bigger say in the matter. Tommo, I can assure you if I let the day run till 8pm I will get a hell of a lot of complaints. Yes, that's when my table at the restaurant is booked for :-/ Colemanator, you're not helping. Surely you could sacrifice your Korma for one day (in favour of my Karma ! ;D ;D ;D)
