Due to an early theme I feel the need to ask all on their opinion about politics in our game. I do feel that there will always be a certain amount of politics in anything, but feel very strongly that we have of recent years seen this creep into bar billiards to an extent that sometimes it takes over as I feel makes people uncomfortable.
Surely the main reason we go out is to enjoy the evening, meet fellow enthusiasts, have a couple(or more ) alchoholic beverages. Not to forget giving our fair share of banter without it being offensive and upsetting. In these times that see us as a game struggle for many various reasons, we should encourage others to join us to strenghten the playing base, I feel this will not happen if the trend towards politics contiues.
I have enjoyed this game and other passtimes over the years, but for reasons I cannot put my finger on, we do seem to have a few people who do play the political game and I feel this will alienate the chance of bringing young blood into the game.
This is not meant as a whinge, but rather a from the heart plea that we nip it in the blood. Also to try and ascertain if others feel the same.

Hear Hear Tony, I am with you all the way, we need to encourage new, young players into the game or it will die. If they want more than one inter-league team from the same pub please let them and support them and there obviously keen landlord. The majority of current players have been playing for 20 years plus, so bring on the youngsters. Good luck to you all.
