As some of you may know, I took over the competitions from Roy this summer so should be receiving lots of entries for the various competitions.
Hopefully by now, youve spoken to each of your teammates and have your entry forms ready to post to me, but just in case you have, the deadline is fast approaching and it would be nice to have some more entries.
At present, I have received just two teams entry forms and payments (Roffey and Mill House) and am keen for us to run some competitions this year provided we have the entries.
Any issues, please dont hesitate to call or email me (07834601165) or email at senie@hotmail.co.uk
Regards
Matt

I am happy to add we have received a small flurry of entries from Stout House, Southwater and Limeburners and are expecting some from Dun Horse so most tournaments are looking healthy for our jubilee year.
Nothing from either Windmill side, either Plough side, Holbrook or Crawley Club as yet :'(
We've now got:
8 people in the Mens Singles 5 people in Senior Singles 5 pairs in Mens Doubles 3 in Ladies singles 3 in mixed doubles 0 in Lower Division Singles
If you havent yet entered and you (or your teammates) want to, then please call me or email me (senie@hotmail.co.uk or 07834 601165).
If you are about to send a form that I am not aware of, then please contact me to say so as this will allow me to provisionally add names/numbers.
The address to post forms to is:
Matt Senior 19 Abbotsleigh Southwater West Sx RH13 9HX

The closing date for the singles and doubles competitions has now come to a close and we have had a massive interest with 10 out of 12 teams having players enter at least one competition.
I will be looking to draw matches at next weeks league game between Southwater and Roffey although due to the massive number of entrants, may draw some of the more popular competitions this forthcoming week and some of the less popular the week after to save a wee bit of time. Once draws have been made, you will be notified of any news!
Entries are as follows:
Mens Singles:
Clive Thompson Peter Gibbs John Miller Dick Cable Mick Fairs Dave Howlett Keith Newman Adam Bateup Ricky Dewdney Steve Hopkins Jim Greensted Pete Edwards Gareth Lloyd Steve Eely Dave Lennon
Ladies Singles:
Ding Johnson Jenny Edwards Margaret Thompson Lorraine Hall
Lower Division Singles:
Steve Hopkins Brett Kennedy Rob Jones Martin Murray Jim Greensted Pete Edwards Matt Senior Tom Darkins Steve Eely Mike Lennon Dave Lennon
Senior Singles:
Ding Johnson Mick Johnson Pete Gibbs John Miller Dick Cable Paul Jobbins John Lear Steve Eely Mike Lennon
Mens Doubles:
Tony Temple and Mick Johnson Peter Gibbs and John Miller Matt Senior and Tom Darkins Dave Howlett and Keith Newman Gordan Carver and Adam Kuzimski (hopefully spelt your name correctly Adam!) Adam Bateup and Richard Spurrier Ian Giffen and Chris Kirkham Gerry Edwards and Pete Edwards Steve Hopkins and Vic Razzell Brett Kennedy and Rob Jones Martin Murray and Nigel Evans Mark Webber and Keiron ??? Dave Lennon and Steve Eely Mike Lennon and Barry Dumbrill
Mixed Doubles:
Tony Temple and Ding Johnson Rob Hall and Lorraine Hall Clive Thompson and Margaret Thompson Steve Hopkins and Joanne Haines Pete Edwards and Jenny Edwards Steve Eely and Sarah Howell
Id like to thank all those that have entered and as you can see we have got a vast majority of the league taking part which is brilliant.
Good luck to all of you (except anyone in the Mens Doubles and Lower Division singles as Id like to win one of those please!) ;)

Thanks to Clive for the above. ;D
Draws have been made with the participation and witnessing of Lorraine and co. from the Mill House and Chris P from Southwater.
I will add all "Last 16" Matches to the forum (Thurday PM/Friday PM at latest) this week with matches to be played in January at the latest (pre-arranged dates, venues and ties will follow)
A couple of mouth watering ties, one notably in the Mens Singles First Round/Last 16 where 2 of the stars of our leagues over recent years come head to head..........
Matches may be played prior to these dates if necessary and mutually agreed between players. This will prevent any players being on holiday or clashing with other commitments.

Singles week is 14th Dec, although no draw has been published yet! Not sure regards the other comps but like Billingshurst, Horsham use Monday nights for comps too!

Hi Rob. I spoke to Matt re this & the draw has been done but he has had probs with his laptop missing Microsoft, I said people were chasing the draws.
We do have Mondays as the night for comps rather than play by dates but you can play another night before the drawn date. I will give Matt another nudge. ian.

Ian The draw for the singles should have been with Team capts. by last night! I should have been informed of my opponent and venue! But none of this has happened! Can we get this published asap?

Singles week is 14th Dec, although no draw has been published yet! Not sure regards the other comps but like Billingshurst, Horsham use Monday nights for comps too! Foxy, having spoken to you last night and checked back on this thread and on the rules, I think you are panicking us unnecessarily! ;D You say 'Singles week is 14th Dec' and 14th Dec is indeed a 'spare week' on the Fixture List, but that does not necessarily mean that it has been set aside as a 'set night' for competitions. ::) What may be the case in Redhill does not necessarily apply here! ;) Likewise, mention of Monday nights..........may well appy to Billingshurst but not necessarily the case for Horsham. :-/ Checking back on Matt's post of 16th November he mentions that "last 16 matches" are "to be concluded by January .... although they may be played prior to these dates if necessary and mutually agreed between players".I agree that it would have been nice to have seen the draws published by now, but I have seen nothing to suggest that Matt will be anything other than a fine Competitions Secretary, and I think we should trust that he has everything in hand. :)

Emails sent out to all on list for draws.
Apologies for any inconvenience. Whole laptop has gone so have been down the library until it can be fixed
Please note, matches were never due to be played on Dec 14th. This was specified as a spare week and is commonly used for league matches which have been postponed.

Adam Bateup 2 Clive Thompson 0 at the Windmill.
Easy win for Adam against a below-par tommo. One good break in each game did it.
In the other game played at this venue on the same night, newly-crowned Sussex champ Lloydy lost a patiently-compiled break in the first leg and Ricky ran in a 6k break in leg 2 for a good victory.
Consolation for Lloydy whose bet on Crawley Town to beat Derby 2-1 came in, winning him £140. 8-)
Good luck to Adam and Ricky in the next round.

Micky Fairs 2 Foxy 0
Micky won the toss and put me in! All going well until I spilled a peg off the 100 hole on about 4k ::) Not only losing my score but handing Mr Fairs a free go at the break, 7k later frame 1 to Micky
Frame 2 Micky opened with a 6k missing the same peg i hit twice, leaving me a couple of awkward balls I soon realized it was not to be my night. Hey Ho thats billiards for you ;)
Micky deserved his win and good luck to him for the comp!

Dick Cable has progressed through in both the Mens Singles and the Senior singles. Congratulations to him on both accounts!
Outstanding results from a few games still. The sooner these are in, the sooner we can draw the next round. When you play your next games (if applicable), please feel free to send a quick text if its easier than an email and we can update accordingly.
Please note, if you do have any issues with dates or venues or your own venue is unavailable, please tell me at the earliest possible time.
We will be unable to use Roffey Club on a Monday evening due to darts forthwith. The Holbrook club will need notice due to membership issues/getting the table organised. Crawley Club is also on the not-use list due to membership issues.
This leaves:
Mill House, Southwater Sports Club, Limeburners, Plough, Dun Horse, Stout House and Windmill.

Well done to Matt & Tom who beat Chris & me 2-0 In very busy Stout House we rearranged venue due to Darts & The Roffey Club to find Peter Gibbs & John Miller V Martin Murray & Nigel Evans had moved their match there as well & also the Stout had a darts match on as well.
Well played Matt & Tom, Also Peter & John who won 2-1 in a very good match which saw Nigel & Martin dominate the first leg.

As Ian has mentioned, the draw has taken place and can be seen below. I will in turn also be emailing this out to all team captains. As always, if a match if drawn to be played at your pub/club, please can you book it to ensure the table is reserved. There are a lot of competitions going on in and around the county at present hence choosing venues has proved almost impossible!
The original “play-by” dates have been re-arranged to avoid clashes with other leagues, notably Billingshurst League and to ensure all re-arranged matches have been completed. If you/your team is unavailable to play on the scheduled date, please re-arrange with your opponent(s) as soon as possible. Do not leave until the day before your game. All re-arranged dates must be mutually agreed.
Once re-arranged, please either email or text Matt Senior with amendments (senie@hotmail.co.uk as you will appreciate, there is a limited amount of venues/dates. Dates provided have been arranged for you but you may re-arrange before this date. All matches MUST be completed prior to the 28th March 2011. Any games not completed before this date will result in a forfeit.
Thanks to Dick Cable from Roffey and Gordan Ling from Southwater with the rest of the Roffey team as witnesses for the draw. Well, I say thanks but I don't like the look of my draws!
You will note the first game of the evening has been brought forward after discussions at our last committee meeting to ensure games finish in time. In turn, the second match will also start earlier. If you are able to arrive early/stay late, I'm sure the other team will appreciate having a referee!
First up, is the Mens Open singles.
Adam Bateup v Dave Howlett 7th March at Limeburners at 8pm Rick Dewdney v Dick Cable 7th March at Holbrook Club at 8pm Steve Eely v Dave Lennon 7th March at Limeburners at 9.15pm Pete Gibbs v Micky Fairs 7th March at Holbrook Club at 9.15pm

And finally, the Ladies Semi Finals

I appreciate some matches are short notice, but they have been planned this way as there are a few participants that seem to be doing rather well in lots of comps!!!
Good luck to all those concerned (except Dave Lennon and Pete/Micky!!!!!!)

, I have spoken to John Miller. The matches due to take place at Roffey on Monday 7th can now NOT be played there. This concerns Tom vs Pete and Steve Hopkins vs Brett. I have spoken to Barry at the Stout House and he is happy for the matches to take place there instead. If youre lucky, he may even lay on a sarnie or three!
In turn, I have text the four players concerned. If you have/know of any other issues, please call me asap as we are short on venues and dates to rearrange matches.
