Barry & Debbie thank the guys for not showing up on Monday 7th or letting them know. The Carfax now has 20 very fat pidgeons that ate all the sarnies prepared for them....

Hope the Stout House get an apology Sk1ppy, but I doubt it. :-/ Although we got adequate notice, I'm still narked at the last Team Cup round match picked on the Mill House being switched for no apparent reason: Ifield is hardly that much further away from Horsham than Mannings Heath, once you straighten the roads out. ::) tommo

I will speak to Barry to apologise on behalf of the league. Players were notified. One game was further moved to thurs at roffey but Steve vs Brett remained to be played there (in theory).
For Adams game, as per the rules set out, he will pass through to the next round. I appreciate its probably of little joy as he does seem to enjoy playing the game. No contact with Twiggy. I know he has my number and I received nothing from him.
Regarding Steve/Brett-as neither player turned up, both will have been deemed to forfeit. If I receive a call with mitigating circumstances then I am happy to change things.
Unfortunately Tommo, it appears noone wants to play at the Mill House for cup matches. Rules do state that venues can be changed if mutually agreed which has helped in the singles/doubles comps but in turn has its drawbacks. May well be up for a quick discussion at the next comm meeting.
Other results in so far for the Senior Singles:
Ding Johnson beat King John by 2 to nil and Paul Jobbins scored a big 20 over Junky Miller.
Awaiting results from Ricky-Dick @hobrook and Pete-Micky @ Holbrook and also Steve vs Dave @ L'burners.
Games this forthcoming week are Tom vs Pete on Thurs at roffey; dave lennon vs myself @plough; Tony/Mick vs Steve/Vic at the Plough and also both Womens second leg ties-all on Mon 14th
I know there are also games in the Billinghurst league on the 14th at Roffey, Swater and Windmill (?)

May well be up for a quick discussion at the next comm meeting. Now I'm hurt. But no point in challenging if the Rules allow. I remember years ago we all hated going to the Five Oaks Inn: now I just bemoan the fact that the pub is no longer there. :-/

My guess is that the hyphen was missed out and he means "a big 2-0", Q. :-/

it was indeed a 2-0 win not a 20K score. Thanks Clive.

the results come flooding in (possibly not the right phrasing with whats going in Japan at the moment, but thats no shock there(!))
Pete Edwards beats Tom Darkins in the Lower Div Singles
and Pete and Jenny Edwards beat Steve and Sarah from the Windmill in the mixed doubles.
Ive scored many a score of 20 in the past. Only issues there's no "k" on the end of it!

More results in....
Micky Fairs beat the mighty Pete Gibbs in the Mens singles and Ricky beat Dick as well.
I have conceeded my game to Dave Lennon as I was unable to attend due to work issues and am struggling for dates to re-arrange personally. Dave will as per the rules advance to the semi finals.
Semi Finalists for the Mens are therefore:
Adam, Ricky, Micky and Steve Eely. Congrats to the 4 of you. My money is on the "young gun" as he has shown so much consistancy this season and seems to be getting better and better every single week!

Mixed Doubles Quarter-final. Steve Hopkins & Joanne (Haines) Hopkins v Clive Thompson & Margaret Thompson 28th February at Roffey Club This one, with the agreement of all concerned, is now taking place on Thurs 24th March (8.30pm) Margo and I won 2-1 tonight. 1st game won against the break but with a score of 6660 - "the mark of the beast." :o :o Steve then gave us the scare of our lives, taking my break game with a good 4k plus and we unable to pot a ball. 'Normal business' resumed in game three with Margo getting us off to a good start. Thanks to the Holbrook guys for scoring and to John Miller for preparing a superb top. And thanks to our worthy opponents, whose time will come, I'm sure. ;)

Not many games left to play.
The draws for the Semi Finals will all be made this week (Tuesday evening at latest) and will be issued out as soon as I can email them out (Weds night realistically).
Please note, finals night is at the beginning of May so all games will need to be played around 10 days prior to this to allow me to plan who plays on which table and when at finals night (may have players in more than one final!)
Semi finalists are:
Mens Singles:
Ricky, Adam, Steve, Micky
Lower Division Singles:
Jim/Steve E, Pete, Steve H, Dave
Senior Singles are:
Dick, Paul, Pete, Ding
Doubles Semis are still very much undecided. 2 games to be played shortly. 1 played. 1 should have been played last Monday but has an outstanding result.
Mixed Dbles:
Pete & Jenny, Clive and Margo, Rob and Lorraine, Tony and Ding
Womens Singles semis are half complete already with Lorraine advancing to the final to face either Margo or Jenny.

Margaret v Jenny now arranged for Thurs 31st March. Jenny beat Margo 2-0 tonight in torrid conditions at the Stout House. Game 1 won by 3k - 1k, game 2 a closer affair, margo leading throughout but Jenny snatching it after the bar, exciting stuff. It was the same for both ladies of course, and both handled it surprisingly well, but these were the worst conditions I've ever seen a match played under in 40 years: There seemed to be a convention of some sort (Treasure hunt ?) and the pub was overflowing with rowdy foreigners who kept getting in the way despite our repeated pleas to give the ladies some room as it was a 'Semi-final'. To-ing and fro-ing, and the door to the street constantly having to be closed after them. >:( Bar billiards obviously a great novelty to them, Peter even had to explain the Rules of how to play the game at the half-way stage. ::) And of course, by 9.30 the bar had cleared completely and not a German or Canadian in sight! ;D
