Crown 2 Dun Horse 3
John Thayre 4550 Scott Hope 440 Scott scored the best part of 400 off the break before settling down to concentrate on knocking white pegs over. John, however, had other ideas and managed to keep most of his scores including a very timely 3k+ break towards the end.
Rick Padfield 3430 Stuart Hope 820 Stuart had obviously paid close attention to Scott’s game as he too messed up the break allowing Rick to pull ahead with a break of around 2k. (Rick interestingly favouring the left hand break shot.) Stuart unable to get the balls in to come back.
Colin Barrow 2280 Grant Hope 3110 Grant started steadily managing to pull 1k ahead over the first couple of visits, Colin unable to catch up. Both players scored equally for the rest of the game, Grant managing to slot in a 1k break midway.
Pete Barnett 1350 Colin Bolton 1780 Closest game of the night, Colin broke off with 200. After about 8 visits each they still only had 400 between them! Barney mastering the art of leaning balls over holes without dropping. Colin managed a (small) break just as the bar went to clinch the frame.
Dave Sands 1280 Dave Simmons 6650 Considerably nervous, having watched the previous games, Dun Dave managed to find the break and started with 1k+, Crown Dave struggled to start. After another couple of visits each, Dun Dave managed to retrieve the break and rack up another 4k+. This time, Crown Dave managed to get a break going but 1k in and hurrying, left himself out of position and took the black out.
A fortuitous result in favour of the Dun Horse on an awkward top which I’m not sure favoured either side. Good to see the new Landlords at the Crown have settled in, supplying excellent food tonight. Good chat and banter as always….. ;D

And here they are......
Stout House Z 2 Alfold Club 3 ??? Richard 7120, Trevor 790 I had a 5k break and thought the table played quite well.
Vernon 350, Malcolm 5300 Captain Vern just couldn`t get the break back, whereas Malc played steadily with 2 good breaks. Revenge for Malc ;)
Jim 3060, Robin 3970 Jim had the break back twice, but messed up both times. Robin took advantage.
John 3660, Dave 2400 John kept up his 100% record. Boy did he let us know :) Newbie Dave looks like he could be a reasonable player.
Andy 2580, Gary 5600 Was very impressed with the way Gary played, even managing to shutout the noise of the Finn ::)
A very enjoyable night, with plenty of laughs and banter, finished off with some nice food.
Well played the Alfold guys. I hear you don`t do gloating ;D

Well played the Alfold guys. I hear you don`t do gloating ;D Oh we never said we didn't gloat ;D you obviously misheard us, we said that the result put a lump in our throat ::). To be fair Vern and the Silver Fox possibly played the worse I have ever seen them, Jim did work hard but when he got to within touching distance of Rob he came up short. it was a surprise to us all, but very welcome indeed 8-).The Major and Rob played their part in the game and deserved to come out victorious Newbie Dave was solid and very pleased for him, nerves got the better of him in the end, but a good performance none the less. Gary was solid throughout and deserved his win, and the Dorsal was left speechless (well almost). RP was certainly in the zone and though I did get the opportunity to do something, I messed it up again (starting to sound familiar :-[). Well done to Johnny for keeping up his 100% record. Lets hope this game has reset the mark for the Alfold lads :-X SORRY!!
