Hi Nick,
In Portsmouth there are league tables in the following locations!
Copnor Snooker Club Phoenix LHFA Mermaid Connaught Arms Britsh Queen Derby Tavern Compass Ross
You should be able to use the yellow pages to get the addresses etc.
I hope this helps more than my last posting Kady

I would like to suggest a completely separate sub board (?) which could have a list of tables (League & Non- League) in different areas/counties. This could include address, post code, quality of beer and opening times.
I have been thinking of this for a couple of days now. I had a day out to Portsmouth on Thursday and thought I'd have a visit to a pub with a table (or 2). My first port of call was the British Queen, which does not open until 4 during the week. I found the Lord Chichester, by accident, but that was closed with no opening times that I could see. I eventually got to the Phoenix and had a nice pint, a knock-around and a cool off.
A final point here. The Invincible by The Hard has a sign that looked as if it was painted yesterday advertising Bar Billiards but has not had a table for a least a year (that's how long the girl behind the bar had worked there)

Hi Regg3y,
Q already has plans to provide this service on a website which will pinpoint all bar billiards venues - league and non-league - nationwide.
I have pledged to research all tables within the Greater London area, and have started to do so, having already reported on visits to Deptford and Tooting.
It will be a constant challenge to keep the information once lodged updated. As you indicate, they can be here today and gone tomorrow.
So a vital column of information to be included would, IMHO, be 'date table last known at this venue'. If Bernie's using an Excel spreadsheet he can set in an '@today' formula for known league tables currently in use, and for the others a date can be put in representing a) what the internet tells us, b) a visit of one of our members, or c) as in the case of the Invincible 'table removed on such and such a date' - and being archived after, say, two years.

League is played on Wednesdays and Competitions on Thursdays.
Current tables are:
Stag - New Road Phoenix Lounge and Public have a table - Torrington Avenue Langstone Harbour Fishermans Club - restricted opening times but cheaper beers/lager - ask for times if you are interested and I will contact the bar staff Copnor Snooker Club - Copnor Road
The White Horse has a table but following the death of Alan Shaw they have now withdrawn from the league
There are other non-league tables but truly do not know what the availability is re play here.
Hope this helps
Chris

And do any teams need any extra players ????

Lewis
I have no idea which venues are best for a Saturday. Much depends upon where you are staying due to the spread of tables. League is only held on a Wednesday nothing is played on a Saturday.

By the way - I am the only Portsmouth player that really uses pro-boards

Is there no longer a separate Southsea league playing on Tuesday nights ?
There was as recently as 2011 if this is anything to go by:
I gain the impression that the pubs mentioned (White Horse apart) would be of the "rough and ready" nature and tables probably not of the quality of the venues participating in the (competitive) Portsmouth league.
Best bet for Lewis is to tackle young Lee Radford next time you're both at an Open.

When I was playing in the Pompey league for 10 years, (1995-2005), there was not a Southsea league at all. It was just PBBL.

Thanks Geoff, The article I quoted from the web (google 'Strong Island') was from 2011 so comparatively recent. I also gained the impression it was a summer league, so interest has probably petered out by now anyway.

Best bet is the Phoenix Torrington road. There's a table in both bars So you should get a game, or the Mermaid New road in the lounge.

Sorry Lewis I missed this.
As I said very few Portsmouth Players use pro-boards.
You are unlikely to get a response
Thanks Chris
