Have to get the bicycle clips on then before going there, sounds interesting, quiet assessible and always was a decent boozer, in the deepest reccess of the old grey matter I am sure in days gone by there was a table and a team in the league from here.

Thanks, Regg3y, From the sound of the website it sounds like a biker's pub. I'm not sure Tommo. If you look at The Royal Coach web site (http://theroyalcoach.co.uk/meetings) you can see they have all sorts groups meetings.

I tried The blue Lagoon last night. The table was quite good with just a couple of quirks to give it that home table feel. It can't be that bad as I got a 3k break in one game. The table is down in the Sportsman Bar. Real Ale is being delivered today, and last night was curry night. So to sum up. Beer OK or should be when it's on. Table OK A Squaking Parrot near the table. And six or seven large screen TV's showing a wide range of football.

The Royal Coach in Shoreham had its table removed on Monday. After taking the grand total of £4 in 4 weeks the Gov thought it was not paying its way.

news that we are losing one of the best venues in the League.... 3 League teams and 2 Inter League Teams based at the pub, let's hope that they find venues that are as good as this one. :'( I know it's not really waiting for the grave to go cold, but Elton Ricketts at the Stag Kemp Town was on here a couple of months ago, very keen to host bar billiards. Worth considering ?

Worth considering ? A few potential new venues were being discussed at our match last night, also the possibilities of doubling up at existing single team venues although that could create problems with the fixture lists. :-/ I'm sure that there must be pubs around the Brighton area that would welcome some thirsty bar billiard players coming in and giving them extra business on weekday evenings that are often quiet, but a lot of pubs are now aimed more at "food customers" rather than traditional games..... :'(

I think the main 'downer' on the Stag....... I nipped in The Stag yesterday afternoon. I had a word with Elton (The Guv) and he is very keen on getting a table in. He is looking at getting it at the end of august. The two down sides of this are 1. It's going to be a Capital Coin Company table, so watch those knuckles on the coin slot. and 2. He has no players at the moment. As I said, he is really keen on a Bar Billiard team playing out of his pub. I think it might also help to get the locals interested if some of our players nipped in occasionally and had a go. If anybody is interested and wants more info I can PM Elton's phone number. .......and I don't mind Elton reading this as an honest statement of fact, is the mention of a Capital Coin Company table. As we say on here "It's Bar Billiards, Jim, but not as we know it!" No self-respecting player is going to be interested on playing top-level matches on a non-standard table. However, the thought of accommodating a) a matchplay table owned by England International players and b) three ready-made league teams - as well as c) hosting Inter-League matches - might make the situation 'negotiable'. :-/ Edit - Pub now closed anyway !

Have had a meeting with the manager at the Hanover, who has played the game previously, and last week he was knocked back by the owner, but he is willing to discuss it further and will give a definite answer on Monday.
Also tried The Hartigton. A definite no.

Sad sad news and another knock for bar billiards, know there is a lot of effort being made to find new venues and this is preferable for the long term future, rather than an existing venue, but Gardeners Portslade has only one team on Wednesdays, as a stop gap. Sure other teams in the league will go out of their way to accomodate changes where possible, if drawn there in comnpetition do the players just arrange another venue??
Always one of my favourite venues in recent years as always a good welcome, good beer and have introduceed some new players to the league who have given enthusiastic support to the leagues events.
Good luck to all teams in their quest for new venues.

There are already two teams at the Gardeners on Wednesdays - the team with TJ etc and the Pete Brown/Bartrum team

we could also accommodate the inter league teams at the blue lagoon if interested? Just to mirror the above, venue is plenty big enough with a great atmosphere. I know teams are sorted short term but it's always an option and is closer to Brighton than Romans/Gardeners/NSH. We are also planning to get our Jelkes table in there quite soon in place of or in addition to the Tarratt one already there.

The Worlds End table looks like one of those crap new tables (as supplied by CCC) and has 4 mushrooms. More to follow when know more

Found mention on t'internet of The Hydrant in Brighton having bar billiards:
"The Hydrant is a vibrant music venue in Brighton, England, covering two floors. Live music is free Thursdays to Mondays downstairs in the 240 capacity bar, with a 180 capacity venue for hire or gigs upstairs. We also have a large sun trap beer garden, pool and bar billiards. The Hydrant, 75 London Road, Preston Circus, Brighton BN1 4JF. (01273) 608313"
Anyone able to confirm it ?

The balls on the table at The Rainbow Book Shop. The table itself seems quite solid but it needs re-grassing and a coin mech. Attachments:

New Sussex Hotel is not a venue in the Brighton League - the old Gardeners team are playing as a second team from the Duke of Wellington Thanks Matt, was going by this: Alex or captains can you confirm the following teams have entered Albion Z (formerly Bib & tucker C) Horse & Groom A Atlas C (Jim Millward's team) New Sussex Hotel (formerly Gardeners B) West Hill A Atlas A (Mick Popes team) Albion A Gardeners A (don't think Brian Bartrums team is entering) Duke of Wellington Montreal Romans Horse & Groom Z (formerly Bib & tucker A) Branch (formerly Bib & Tucker B) West hill B Also, in view of Regg3y's comment thus: .....could it be clarified that said Duke of Wellington Brighton league venue is now back to being the one at Shoreham ? It's difficult keeping up with you guys ! ;D cheers, tommo
