With some of the comments over the past week or so, a few people seem to like Pete's rankings. So the question i thought i would ask is if anyone would like to see them adopted as the official ones.

I will start it off by voting yes, but with minor changes. The only change i would have would be for team events. From my understanding, things like the county champs and England games, people are awarded points for their overall averages, i think this should change to just getting something like 1 point for every win they get, plus the usual score bonuses the same as in the opens. Now im just getting ready to be shot down.......

Milhouse, ten out of ten for initiative and inventiveness.
Although I'm not sure that the Glenn-instigated debates have died a death quite yet, they certainly seem to have run their course. I think Sav or KP had planned to take them on a bit further, but recent events seem to have conspired against them, and they have probably come to the conclusion that it's not worth all the aggro.
Anyway I agree with you completely that the Team events points should not be decided by descending order of averages for the day with the privileged few earning massive ranking points - but should rather go by a point or two points per win, with score bonuses as in the Opens.
Another vote for yes, subject to this minor change.

BUMP !
Milhouse is trying to do us a service here, as it's all gone a bit quiet on the RPs front.
But seeing as how we've since got our grubby mitts on BBQ62, what do people think ?
Come on, someone must have a view ......

72.7% voted "Yes, but would like to see minor changes"
Dare we now suggest what we would like those minor changes to be ?

But only 9% said they would ONLY vote for it with the changes.
You can make statistics prove anything if you read them the right way.

This vote is only really for the eight of us who voted the same way. But hey - we're democratic, and if the other guy wants to be included, so be it ! ;)
My own minor changes would be : 1. A fairer distribution of points from the National Team Events: Pete has turned it into a sort of separate competition for who gets the highest average on the day. That's not what it's about, it's about trying to win frames for your team. So I'd like to see 2RPs for every game won (Max 8RPs if four games are played), with bonuses for high scores with a ceiling of 10RPs from the day.
2. Opens: 1RP for every frame won, counting right from the preliminary or first round. But the winner always getting 2RPs. (That is to say, in a two-legged contest, if the winner gets both frames he gains 2RPs, if the players won a leg each, the loser gets 1RP and the winner on aggregate gets 2RPs). Bonuses of fraction of RP for high scores (on a scale). And Bonus RPs for reaching the later rounds. The winner's tally to be increased from what it is at the moment to 15RPs.
That's about it, really.

In the words of Bruce Forsyth:
Please arrange the following words into a well-known phrase or saying
in have got you hope a hell not

The last time those words (rearranged) were spoken to good effect was in 1649. My liege would be better advised to follow the example of King John in 1215. ;D

I didn't know you were such a history professor, or is it "hysterical" prof?
If anyone wants to chop my head off when they read the next Magna Carta (be that is what mein herr refers) then sobeit. Oh no that was Charles wasn't it? Never was any good with history. Always was amazed that I got that O-level.
Can't think what could have happened about 1649! It was about the time Naseby got back to normal after the battle I suppose, I remember it well.
Some forum users would be more likely to associate it with about the time the football results start coming in on a Saturday afternoon.
But you will just have to wait for the proclaimation and see what happens. It is impossible to please everyone, so I will not be trying to do so.
Patience WAS a virgin, you know!

Okay we'll split the difference. No-one's saying off with his head just yet (yes that was 1649) but it would have been nice to force your hand to a Magna Carta Mark II at Runnymede ! ;D
So lets recall 1381 when the peasants were revolting: Richard II's new ranking system "taxed rich and poor at the same rate. Hence, it was very unpopular with the peasantry. " :P
I await the publication of BBQ63 with interest. Hopefully there will be some crumbs of comfort offered to the proletariat ! ;)

I admit to having a weakness for historical facts. ;) When I was less than half your age I could recite all the kings and queens of England, together with the dates of their reigns, in order. ::)

Best way to find out is to test me at an Open. Providing it's not too late in the day and I've had a few sherbets through someone else being the driver. I'm likely to forget my own name then.
