We notice you have a team in your league called the Six Mile Bottom. But while obviously the place exists (Nr Bottisham) I can't find any reference to a pub of that name.
Can you provide details of the venue please ? (the information is needed for the bar billiard map of England)
Thanks, tommo

Hi Tommo
In case no-one is in ( ;D) I think it's the Six Mile Bottom Sports & Social Club, Brinkley Rd, Six Mile Bottom, Newmarket, Suffolk CB8 0UN
Played there once in the Inter Area many moons ago.....
cheers Tony

Thanks, Tony.
My one anomaly solved !
While googling for the info, I've come across several venues in Cambridge itself which lay claim to owning bar billiards tables.
Suggest we put them all up as non-league venues, and then can zap them later one by one if our Cambs 'absent friends' confirm they no longer exist. ;)

Why do I feel that I am being talked about in my own home..................... its nice to see people talking about Cambridgeshire but if you want to know more about Six Mile Bottom Sports and Social Club then ask KT as I know he has pleasant (?) memories of inter-area games played there!! You could aslo ask members of the old Reading B side who ended up in peterborough one saturday night trying to find the venue and we did not start the game until 10.00pm! Please let me know if you want any further information about our league. Keith (AKA Blobbie)

Thank you for the information Keith, and for your kind offer. Perhaps you would like to cast your eyes over my summary of all bar billiards tables in Cambridgeshire hostelries (the non-league ones I have found by trawling the internet)

Just read this post, and looked at the map on the AEBBA site. The "peg" is not on the correct spot. The venue is near the crossroads in the centre of the village in the triangle of land formed by the railway line and the two roads which meet at the crossroads. Hope this helps.

Which venue are you talking about, please ? If it is one in St Ives, then your comments do make sense as Google Earth had not served the village entirely and a certain amount of guesswork was involved. (Most of the time we can pinpoint with 100% accuracy).

Also the White Swan have not got a table after a failed attempt ::)
Now there are only 6 tables that participate in the league if the swan fail to find one! :'(

Whatever,Q...... What I was labouring to convey is that the Google Street Van has only covered one side of the one-way system round the square in St Ives, and you can't get the part of the street highlighted that you want, so you can get the little man to walk along it. Still not sure if Hit'n'Hope was referring to St Ives: According to Tony, a lot of the Cambridgeshire ones were pretty difficult to find anyway, being out in the countryside. :-/

Hello Tommo,
Sorry I didn`t make it clear. Was refering to Six Mile Bottom Sports and Social Club. The marker is about half a mile too far north. In the centre of the "village" you will see a crossroads junction. South of the junction you will see a railway line running East-West. The club is in that triangle formed by railway line and the two roads crossing the line and meeting at the crossroads. The club is on the west side of the road which leads to the SE.
I will check all the Cambs locations for you. ( if i can find the maps page again !!)

Hello again Tommo,
just had another look at the map. If you zoom in on the village the club has it`s own caption.
Not many contributors from Cambs on here.
Come on. Where are you. Let`s be havin` you.

Thanks both. ;D
Hit'n'hope - are you happy with the St Ives locations? I have actually visited the Nelsons Head but I had to pinpoint it from memory.

Hello Tommo,
I don`t normally venture up to the St Ives area (they`ve got webbed feet, you know) and hadn`t planned going there till the famous Guided Busway opens, which it is scheduled to do on 8th Aug.
However, I happened to be there by mistake last week and can confirm the location pegs for both pubs are near enough as to be only a waddle away.
Still plan to visit St. Ives once the Guided Bus is operating but only to experience the bus, you understand. I reckon it will make the national news because of the controversy surrounding it. Will try the tables in both pubs and if the ale on offer is not Greene King will hang around a bit.
Will report back regarding quality of the tables, and beer.
Regards

Thanks for your report, HitnHope.
When I visited St Ives I got stuck in the wrong lane on market day, and finished up in a dead end leading to the market !
I am based in Crawley and we have a guided bus system here, which is ideal for a large town so close to an airport. It's great being able to use the channels and blast straight across the busy Tushmore Lane Gyratory (roundabout)..... In a normal vehicle there is quite a hold-up.
Hope your guided bus turns out to be as good as ours !

I was getting all excited there, thinking you meant THE St Ives (or even better St Ive) then I realised you were talking about our Eastern neighbours.... now feel deflated :'(
As for the guided buses, surely you dont LIKE them Clive, the chaos they caused building the damned thing and then us poor motorists are expected to lose lanes AND give way to them, as far as I'm concerned they were/are a disaster.

there was one disaster, agreed.......
"At 7.40 a.m. on 31 October 2005 a Fastway bus traveling along Breezehurst Drive crashed into the ground floor of a terraced house. Two elderly residents were evacuated, and the damage required the house to be demolished. Four passengers suffered minor injuries"
The extended stabilizer wheel somehow got trapped in a rut causing the bus to flip through the air. Fortunately the bus was more or less empty apart from the driver, who escaped without injury - apart from the shock.
I've used the service quite a bit, for seeing Wimbledon play Crawley FC, as the bus takes a short cut, through a lifting bollard, to drop me right outside the stadium. The other time I was really grateful was after playing in the County Championships at Reading: I'd had 9 pints and Jukesy dropped me at Gatwick South terminal, from whence I caught the Fastway bus which took me almost to my doorstep. 8-)

Four pin Alfred Sams & Sons tables at the Bell Inn, Murrow, and Butchers Arms, Parsons Drove. Apparently the Bridge Inn at Wisbech St Mary no longer has a table. P1013594a by scrumpyboy, on Flickr Cheers, Mark

Tommo managed to acquire a copy of the 25th Anniversary Edition of the Good Pub Guide ....... scanning for any mentions of bar billiards ....... these non-league venues will now be added to the map by our 'team', and will also be added separately to the lists for the county/region on the appropriate thread. Axe & Compass, Hemingford Abbots, Cambs PE28 9AH (NB. table currently being offered for sale on eBay)
Yup there's a picture in the FaceBook posts

Well I'm happy to confirm the white horse Swavesey does have a table and what's more they have two teams in the Cambridge and District bar billiards league
I can also say after working in the pub this morning they have the cleanest pub kitchen I've seen
