Hello, I would very much like to build my own Bar Billiard table, I have spent the weekend trawling the Internet looking for plans of the playing surface, unsuccessfully. I'm specifically looking for plans of an English table, do you have any of these plans or know where I may be able to find some? The design of the actual table isn't that important, essentially what I need is the playing surface plan with the location and size of the holes marked on it. Another question is the size of the balls that should be used, would 1 7/8 inch balls be right? Any help or advice you could give me would be very much appreciated. Kind Regards Darren Evans

Hi, take my advice and buy one instead, and you can buy new balls from Jonny8ball.com.

Hey there, got distracted, and saw your technical drawings for a bar billiards table. What size ball would you use for this? Ash

I have uploaded my 3D drawing of a Jelkes table onto Trimble Sketchup, its in the 3D warehouse, just search Bar Billiards and it is the only one on there in my collection. This is a exact scale drawing of my table and you can "explode" it to look at the timer and bar set up, the ball runs, layout of the holes and peg spots (all as AEBBA rules)
I also have 2D cad drawings that I will forward as DWG files or PDF if anyone is interested.
I am still collating photos of the new table I am building, to put on this thread, but in the meanwhile I have some in an album on my facebook page, if anyone is interested please send me a friend request with bar billiards in the message.

Had a look at the table image and the legs image but cannot see how you 'explode' the table image.
Would appreciate the drawings as I do not have a Facebook account.
Thx

Sav Hi Chris right click on drawing, click explode, that will separate the table into groups. Click the move tool (red cross with arrow heads) hover over table and when the group you want to move goes blue click on a corner and drag it, if you drag it straight up (blue axis), while still holding the mouse button down, type in 1000 and this will move it 1metre - useful for putting it back together. If you want to undo anything you have done- just click on edit and you can undo all your last moves.
If you have time to kill, there are plenty of tutorials for sketchup on youtube, which is how I got started. But be warned it is very addictive. Good luck Brian PS I would like to pick your brains regarding drilling slates etc, if that's ok.

Tried that before I posted.
I go to the 4D warehouse Search for bar billiards Find joiner88 Jelkes Click on the link gives me the image of a Jelkes table with image/3Dview tabs
Right clicking on the picture just gives me the standard Internet Exploder menu of save picture etc.
Could the explode be a members only feature?
Re drilling slates, it's easy; you need to keep it upright, do it slowly with loads of lubrication

Just realised I forgot the table lock and the stay to hold the top up. Will add those when I get a minute.
Chris, I wonder if you have just downloaded "Sketchup viewer" and that is why it wont explode.

Joiner88 This all very interesting stuff and just what I have been looking for. Could you send me the PDF 2D drawing. I have an old 1930s German table I'm restoring that I picked up in Detroit Michigan. One question does anyone know the ball to hole size ratio the balls I have are 1 7/8 or 47.6mm what is the correct hole/pocket size. I'm really having to eat humble pie here asking for info from a Gooner. I'm from The Lane ;-)
