Well it seems like us in the nether regions are a bit more hardy, cos we got to play ;D
Alfold SC 3 Blue Ship 2
D Slater 1540 M. Johnson 7830
Mick found the break straight away and put 1k on the board, Dave's first visit proved fruitless and Mick stepped in with 3k, adding another 2k along the way. Dave did eventually get going but did not have enough table time.
G Fishburn 5790 C. Cathie 4820
Colin started confidently but left the one up short. Gaz stepped in and hit a 5k break. Colin then put together a break of 4k, and the sweat beads started to appear on Gaz's brow, however, Colin left a split short allowing Gaz to polish off the remaining balls.
T Goacher 1140 A Maybee 4380
Alan started well putting 1k on the board but leaving a white ball in front of the 50 hole, which Trevor missed ::). The table then became messy with plenty of balls to play with, though lying awkwardly, which both players struggled with. After a tussle Alan got the break back to hit a match winning break of 2k as the bar dropped.
M Greening 4880 S Bailey 3530
Simon started off well putting 1.5k on the board, the Majors first visit did not come to anything and Simon capatalised on his lead. The Major then got his head down and a**e up and put together a decent 3k edging in to the lead. The game then evened out and as the bar dropped the victory was sealed for the Alfold player.
R Burgess 6410 D Johnson 2710
Dee started steady as usual putting a useful score on the board. Rob's first visit did not offer much and Dee pushed ahead further. The game then became a bit nip and tuck, before Rob eventually got the break back to put together a break of 4k to seal the game and match for Alfold.
A great evening made even more exciting with discussions on whether we were going to get snowed in ;).
Pleasant banter and chat, and good food by Dave.

Result from last nights week 9 game
Stout House Z 4 Roffey Sports n Social Club 1
JUNKIE Miller 5020 - Dick Cable 4340 Quit a close game with Dick making around 2k from the break, Johnny played a very steady 4.5k to put Dick under pressure and with Dick on the break and time getting tight Dick left both up on the break as the bar dropped, Johnny gleefully potting the remaining balls 1-0 :)
Foxy 13120 - PPP Pete Fish 450 Maybe the scoreline says it all but Pete did a Junkie and missed the one up ::) I was able to get the break back and touched on 9k. Pete didn`t score and I played out the rest of the time 2-0 8-)
Vernon Sparkes 9180 - Micky (Shaggy) Fairs 4810 Micky almost missed his first split shot but soon got into his groove until missing a split and then the next shot too letting Vern in who did not need any more encouragement, he made a 8.5k break to make it 3-0 8-)
Richard Plaw 1410 - Dave (Homer) Twiggy 9660 Twigs off to a great start with 5k , Richard not getting any luck at the top end allowing Twigs to regain the break and put up his best score to date, nice to see Dave ;) I`m sure the 10k will come soon 3-1
Andy Finn 6620 - Glen Owen 5670 Another close encounter in the last! Glen making around 4k from his opener, Andy struggling to retrieve the balls but does so with just enough time to overhaul Glen with a 5.5k break 4-1
Banter YES lots of it!! Food Yes lots of sandwiches :)
Happy Christmas and New Year to all in Billingshurst Billiards ;D

Dun Horse 0 Three Bees 5
Scott Hope 1350 Ron Child 4240 Grant Hope 1240 Lin Lennon 4810 Dave Simmons 2310 Nigel Thomsett 5510 Colin Bolton 1920 Mike Lennon 2290 Stuart Hope 2200 Steve Eely 6920
First game played was Grant against Lin. Grant struggled with the table, Lin managed to steadily rack up the score to take the frame.
Second game played was Dave against Nigel. Nigel went off with about 500 but Dave failed to capitalise. Although no big breaks, Nigel seemed to get the break back with most visits. Dave tried too hard and didn’t!
Colin played Mike next in the closest game of the night. Level scores all the way through. Highest break was about 500. Just our luck that Mike happened to be on the table when the bar dropped. :-/
Steve showed us how it should be done breaking with 5k+ in the fourth game played. Stuart did get a break of 1k5 in the closing stages but by that point it was too late.
Scott had arrived late having flown back from Glasgow. Ron broke with just over 1k and like his team mates had done earlier kept racking up the score. Scott just didn’t get going.
A bit of a disastrous night for the Dun. All of us struggling again on a table that we should know. New Year’s resolutions all round then!! ::)
A good night of cheery banter and chat anyway. ;D
Oh, and the usual seasonal fare from the kitchens . .. . Egg Sarnies! :-X
