Arrghh. Outlook Express :P Decided not to use Gmail. Does anybody know how to set the incoming mail [pop3] to a proper setting that is used. How do you find out on your PC what it is?
Guess a bit of a toughen ::)
It's OK now, I have sorted it out ::)

Why Outlook Distress, use Thunderbird far more secure, just like Firefox is for browsing.

Wait for it, it wont eat you but may suddenly wipe half of your emails out for no reason. Has done this lots of times for me. T/Bird has spam filtering, spell checker and better security options. Your choice though, I can only advise :)

It would delete E-mails if you use some programs to clean your hard drive. There is no other way for E-mails to go missing apart from virus or format of HD! I will have to go with Ian, KP!

Not true my lad!! I have always used OE myself, but am thinking of changing to TBird after my rebuild is complete. Last year all my 'sent' mails disappeared one morning for no apparent reason Sav.

V5.5 was notorious for the problem, and there is no consistancy to it. It is a common problem, try searching the web: www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=outlook+express+loss+of+emails&btnG=Google+Search&meta=Why do you think they invented so many programs for trying to recover damaged database files of OE, goodness of their heart ! I repeat I can only advise, but I know what I trust, if it wasnt for gaming there wouldn't be a single PC of mine that used MacroShite products.......... ......any way ignore me I am not here......I'm busy :D

Nice picture. KP. Looks pretty basic to me - console, monitor, cpu, disk storage. In fact, looks pretty much like the installation I used to work at in the little room at the back of the Malaya Garage in Billingshurst in around 1975. It handled the payroll, printed standard letters to send out to customers advising their Porsches or Mercs were due for service or were there any problems as their warranty was about to expire, and controlled the spare parts. There was a huge disk drive containing three hard disks which had to be backed up on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. One night when I was on an evening shift (6-11pm) my sole task was to perform a huge print run. I wasn't going to sit there for three hours watching it churn out, so once I'd set it going I locked up and disappeared down to Ye Olde Six Bells for several games of bar billiards and several jars to boot. ;D Imagine my horror when I opened up again at 11 to find that the printer had jammed and the room was full of swirling computer paper which I had to fight my way through ! Served me right ! :-[ Of course I had to tidy it all up, and being young and irresponsible dumped it all in a hedge. ::) The next day I had to break the news to an angry manager that there had been a brief power cut and the computer run had failed....... ???
