Plough A 4, Mill House 1
Steve Whyte 1140, tommo 9490 Steve Vizor 4110, Jim Broderick 1160 Mark Webber W/o Nick Hayes scr. Geoff Parsons 2500, Margo 1690 Keith Potter 3120, Mick Holmwood 3020
The 2nd div champs suffering a championship hangover, losing away from home for the first and only time. Our apologies for only having four players. Get well soon, Mama Hall. Plough gave us a good evening, excellent food, including bacon and brie sarnies - and Parsons Pickled Onions doing their intended job of staving off margo and tommo's colds. 8-) Table best I've ever known it. 8-)

Stout House 3 - 2 Dun Horse
Ricky knocked in 9360 against Glyn in the first. 0-1 Keith got the better of a BP by John in the second. 1-1 Adam.K finally got the break back after playing like a novice to nick the 3rd from Ian. 2-1 Twiggy and Adam.B traded blows & pegs but it was Adam who remained standing. 2-2 Gordons 2 minor breaks was enough against Paul for the home win. 3-2
Lots of fun banter, good bill's, flukey bill's and laughs. Looking forward to seeing the Horse next year!

Windmill 3-2 Southwater (no scores im afraid)
Myself and Drew kicked off leg 1 and proceeded to knock as many pegs over as possible. I think we must have been close to half a dozen! I threw away a good couple of thousand early on but held steady to take the first. Im sure Drew and I play each other every time our teams play?! Ollie Wilkins standing in for Jeff tonight was not to be outdone with the pegs taking the black out on ball 1 (I advised him to "hit it hard" on the windmill top!) andtookm then again very shortly. Dave took Ollie to pieces with a rip roaring score. 1 leg apiece Leg 3 saw Dan Humphries standing in for Chris take on Barry. A tightly contested game saw Dan in his second ever game claim a memorable scalp. 2-1 to Swater Gordan and Mike played out a great leg in game four going all the way to the last ball. Gordan requiring the 200 black pegged it giving the game to Mike. Final leg was Steve and Tom for the win. Tom normally struggles at the windmill andnever found a rhythm. Steve held tight to make it 3-2 to the windmill.
A great night with a LOT of banter and a very costly night for me and "the tin".

Tommo if you only had 4 players you can't/don't need to nominate which of your players it goes against as they weren't there. Good, because we tried to submit only four names for the Draw but they wouldn't have it. :-/

Just use a dummy/blank card for the draw or agree that a card for someone 'not there' is used as the blank, as no name is required for the 'missing' player in the draw. This ensures a fair draw for whoever gets the walkover, but does not penalise any one 'missing' player from the short team.

This ensures a fair draw for whoever gets the walkover, but does not penalise any one 'missing' player from the short team. That's exactly what we ended up doing. Over the years there have been loads of ways of doing this, and I always thought Percy Barnett's (long-time Secretary of Billingshurst) method the simplest (- and boy, do I like things to be simple). "Just submit four names to the draw, boy!" he used to say. And whoever comes out fifth on the card against the blank gets the walkover. Seems fine to me, and I honestly can't see what the fuss is about.

Next week Stout House away to Windmill A Dun Horse Home to Windmill B. I'm away on a training course in Devon so will miss out on the fun. Come on The Horse. ;D
