Chairperson’s report.
Jean thanked the committee members for their work throughout the year. She noted that most events had gone well during the year and, even though there had been a problem with the B team interleague at short notice due to the venue being unavailable, this had subsequently been resolved with the competition held elsewhere at a later date.
She was particularly pleased to see the revival of the Ladies 1-day competition, which was a great success. A couple of the individual competitions had to be cancelled due to lack of entries.
Jean reminded the meeting that Alan & Mark would both be stepping down after this next year, and encouraged volunteers to come forward to work in harness with them over the 12 months with a view to taking over their positions when they go.
Finally, she congratulated all inter league and competition winners for this year, and wished everyone an enjoyable and successful season next year.
Treasurer’s report
Richard presented the accounts, which were approved, proposed Graham Sparksman, seconded Bill Kerr. The accounts had not been formally audited, but had been looked over by Chris Reeves & Nigel Senior, both of whom have an accountancy background. Payment of £60 honorarium to the Secretary was also approved.

Before the start of play Captains should ‘draw’ the names of the players for each of the seven games. The games will take place in the order drawn. Where two or more players in a team have the same surname the full Christian name shall be entered on the result card and the identity of the first named player be established before the second player be named. Should a player drawn not be available to start his/her game when needed to, the order of play may be switched to suit the opposing team captain, but he/she must play against the player he/she was drawn to play, and the order of breaks must be preserved on all accounts. Should this not be possible he/she shall forfeit the game.

Bernie Lawrance proposed that we form a Sussex 'B' team to enable some of our many unsung players to have the experience of playing for their county
The above was debated, on the understanding that the final decision lay with the committee, and that the meeting could only indicate it’s wishes. In the event, the meeting was very strongly in favour of submitting a B team. The committee agreed to meet immediately following the AGM to consider this, Bernie Lawrance was nominated as a provisional non-playing Sussex B captain in the event of a team being raised.
Ros Appleby wished to record her thanks for the Ladies interleague competition having been resurrected.
Kevin Tunstall referred to the Review of the Year, and said that he very much appreciated having been made to feel welcome in Sussex.
Graham Sparksman recommended that the incoming committee give serious thought to the future of table hire for competitions, bearing in mind the uncertain position of the table operators.
The meeting closed at 21:48.
