I know we haven't got Kent done and dusted yet, but the next one's Bucks. www.aebba.org/Entry%20Forms/BucksOpen.htmOnly a fortnight left to enter, so don't miss out. New venue this year, should be a good 'un.

It`s a very nice venue Tommo. I was lucky enough to go to Ernie & Dawn Jordans` wedding reception there a few years ago. They were trying to get the club for the Open then.

I knew he would slip up eventually.
Kevin finally let slip his tactics which make him virtually unbeatable. He goes to these venues years in advance and studies the facilities. All this under the guise of being a wedding guest.
We must keep an eye on who is getting married next. Could be the next open venue!!

Hi, we have decided to delay the closing date for 1 more week, unfortunately we have only had seven entrants from outside Bucks. It will be a real shame to cancel this event as we have a great venue this year. If you would like to enter please get oyur entry form to Andy Haines by Wednesday 18th July. Regards Merv

If whoever is coming from Bucks to the Kent Classic on Sunday has entry forms with them, they would collect several entries on Sunday.

Speaking for myself and the group i travel with to opens, we usually sort out an entry form at one open for the next one, so while we are at Kent this weekend, we will sort out a form for the Bucks. The group i am talking about is me, Ray, Keith, Steven, Pauline, Ian.

I would imagine I'm the only entry you have from Surrey so far, but I'm sure we can bully a few more to enter whilst at the Kent Classic.
And if anyone from Mid Sussex or Horsham Leagues fancies a crack at Bucks but is stuck for a lift, I have two places in my car. (Last year Q was kind enough to give me a lift.)

Thanks guys, I feel a bit guilty as I haven't supported any of the opens this year, unfortunately I've had too many things going on this year. I'm pretty certain Charlie is there on sunday, so we'll get some entry forms there. regards Merv

The closing time for entries is approaching fast and it at the moment looks as thought his open is in danger of not happening due to lack of support. This would be shame when we are talking of creating new events, as a lack of support would mean these new ones would struggle to progress.
I as stated on Kent Classic thread am new to the opens and certainly have no illussions of granduer that I am ever going to win one, but can recommend the day as improving your game, watching the best play and putting the effort in to put a spoke among the wheels by doing your best to at least put out a named player.
We have in the past talked about promoting this great game, and Glenn certainly pushed as hard as possible to give coverage to moving the game into the public eye. We can at least do alittle bit by building the numbers at open events and you never know how you will fair if you don`t at least give it a go. There is always the plate if you fall at the first hurdle, and this is not second rate if you see the names who fall at the first hurdle. The plate always gives a chance to take a big scalp as it is one frame and the toss can play in your faVOUR.
So come on get yourself an entry form and give one event at least a go, you never know you might even find you enjoy yourself and we do a bit to promote the game and also publicise it to new people.

I really wanted to enter but I am on holiday. I even had permission from the Boss to go. (I think she gave it safe in the knowledge that we had already booked a holiday. What a sneak!!)

Thanks Sparky, If Bucks don't get sufficient entries, it won't be down to a lack of effort from those of us who have posted on this thread - and even given mention of the event on other boards.

Merv Have you got entries from Dennis & Sue Atkins ? They are on holiday at the moment and do not come back until Monday, i am sure they will enter, but cannot confirm until early next week. What number would you need as i may be able to convince other people to go (the guilt trip!) if there are only 1 or 2 more needed! Maybe you could post a list on here of who has entered and then we can all work on the others to get them along - or make sure we have all entered!

This is kind of Ironic I knew there was something on the 12th August ans yes it is a county Pool match EPA and its in Buckinghamshire.... I don't know where it is yet but would be funny if it was in the same town.
Bucks is quite a big place and I can't think of anywhere in Risboro at the moment so probably not.

Realistically we need at least 50 I would say to make it financially viable. I haven't had a chance to speak to Andy today to see if we had had anymore entrys.

Just to give you an update, we have gone through the costings to run the tournament, we currently have 50 entrys and we need 64 for it to be financially viable. At the moment this is looking seriously in doubt. We are going to review it Saturday and give you our decision on Sunday. Thanks Merv

Thanks Merv Merv If money is the problem of seeing the Bucks Open go ahead, couldn't the prize money be reduced accordingly, or get the players to pay an extra couple of quid on the door? I know it is not ideal but I am sure the players would rather do this then see the event cancelled. Don't know what others think?

I agree with you, at the end of the day it's Andy's call, I'm going to do what I can to make sure this event goes ahead. Like I said earlier, we're going to sort this out on Saturday.

Nigel asked our opinions, and I for one wouldn't mind paying the extra on the door. To gain you the same revenue as it would have been for 64, at the moment with a line-up of 50 we'd all need to pay an extra £3, and if you get 54 entrants it drops to £2 a head. The price of a drink or of two games of bar billiards. Nothing really, and everyone who I've spoken to that's going has been really looking forward to it.
The other point to consider is, it's gonna cost you upwards of £17 in stamps to return all the entry fees.

I for one would always pay the extra charge on the door. I dont think anyone else would have a problem with it either.

I agree with other comments, if its a case of paying an extra couple of quid on the door or having a reduced (or no) prize money, that will be fine by me. I mentioned before about putting a list up of people who are entered, is this possible ? As there are postal strikes going on all over the place over the past couple of weeks, some forms may have got lost, so if we could see a list on here, we could check.
