Announcement..............
The Organising Committee have advised that despite the closing date for entries to the Surrey Open being the 11th April, there will be an extension of one week, to allow any late applications that may be received at the Portsmouth Open to be accepted.

Two questions for the price of one ! ;)
Firstly, to put them round the other way might look as if the second round as stated was all it comprised, whereas there are the first round winners to be added to it. This is as explained to me once by Fazza - Surrey have not invented anything new, we're just following what all the other counties do.
Secondly, I was delegated the working out of the start times last year, and I remember diligently getting you a 1pm. It's out of my hands this year as the scheduler has received the draw with more time, and I'm hoping start times are 'reasonable' - although where possible they will match the template from last year.

That's ridiculous. >:( Get Auntie to complain and not take 'no' for an answer.
I am quite prepared to work all the times out again this year, if asked. ;)

I am quite prepared to work all the times out again this year, if asked. ;) No problem, Clive, Pauline is not the sort of person to complain about something, it's just that she thought as some of us are down there on the Saturday we would not like to start off early on the Sunday, but I don't mind setting off early.

Having just received the start times myself, I agree that they are ridiculous.
I refuse to publish them on here, and have just expressed my dissatisfaction to the organiser. >:(
There is still plenty of time left to sort it out, and Oxford people won't have to get up before 7am to make it on time if I have anything to do with it. ;)

Dear All
As an ex organiser of the Portsmouth Open... can I just point out a couple of things.
When we enter we all know the start time could be 10am, but we enter as we want to. We know the organisers work hard to engage entrants, do the draw and put on the event. ( I admire the Portsmouth Team commitment of Brian, Mary and Tony as I would not do it anymore) Yes one or two on the Surrey could be changed having looked at it. No one does this on purpose... they just do the draw. We all can see issues in hindsight that can be rectified.
As Keith said Pauline never complains... she is the ultimate ambassador to the sport...
So could we be more private regarding our possible concerns and ask the organisers to look again with some helpful suggestions?
Let's help them with some pro-active support!!
Chris
These guys work hard let's help and support

Thanks Chris, But if the 'injured parties' don't make their views known, how will the organisers know if anything is wrong ? :-/

Hi Clive
I agree they do need to know if there are issues, especially if they can be resolved but perhaps it is better by phone or a Private Email?

Okay, circulating the draw times initially to the 'privileged few' seems to have misfired....according to Gary they were not meant to be set in stone and people were too quick to jump.
The 'official' times will be announced soon: Please bear in mind though that there is a limit to how much can be changed without involving an awful lot of extra work for someone, so these will be final and not up for negotiation !
