A very excellent, enjoyable day. Congrats to the other prize winners: Phil Collins for the highest break of the day of 22k, and Jean Brackenridge for the ladies break. In the final, Milko set a 20k target for Mark, and Mark, playing faster than I have ever seen him, was quickly up to 8k before leaving an awkward one, pegging and conceding. Other memorable performances (for me, anyway ;)): - Geoff Pitt's brave 14k play-out against Milko in the opening round - he fell a couple of k short;
- Harry Mortimore's 8k-6k defeat of Nigel - in the Plate :o :o,
- Ricky Dewdney's perfect play following defeat by
Steven Sheard Bill Kerr at the first hurdle - not a single break lost on his way to winning the Plate. PS Clive, Ricky lost to Bill Kerr in the 1st rd and not Steven, as Steven had a fine win over the England No1 Nigel. (Thanks Milko for pointing this out !)
..... and a big well done to Gina Sherrat for her brave performance in reaching the last 16 of the Main competition. 8-)

Well played Keith, it is about time you won one, hard to believe your last win was the Sussex Open 2006! Certainly the man in form at the moment after your win with Mark in Bournemouth also.
After a couple of near misses over the last year or so it couldn't have happened to a more deserving or nicer bloke. Well done!

Cheers all ;D
Well, as Nigel has said it's been four years in coming and now I've won another Open, but I still can't believe it's been that long!!
I must say though it's not easy to win an Open these days with all the great players around.
May I again thank Dave & Pauline who are always willing to sit down and mark my matches and to Colleen for her excellent table service, I'm still trying to work out how you removed my chips that quick!!! ;D
Another well run tournament by Brian & Mary, Tony, Kady and the rest of the team who helped in making this yet another memorable day for myself.
Oh and the bar staff for serving me about a gallon and a half, or more, pints of lovely Worthington, ::) ;D
It's a good job it doesn't make me act silly!! ::) ;D
Can't wait for Guernsey now.......if we can get over there. ???
Keith
PS Clive, Ricky lost to Bill Kerr in the 1st rd and not Steven, as Steven had a fine win over the England No1 Nigel.

I forgot to mention Mark for being a gracious loser in the final and for buying my last pint of the day...thanks Mark.
Also a big well done to Ian Moss who made the Q/Finals after beating my son Steven in the last 16 with his first ever table play out of 14,000 on table 5.
