Is there anywhere on the site i can find the date for this year Sussex open. The dates for all of the County Opens and AEBBA events are all shown in the "Latest News" Section of the Sussex Website. ;) It's nice to know that the website is now attracting "International" viewers from across the water......! 8-)

On the assumpton that you are staying in or near Horsham, you actually have plenty of choice.
Mannings Heath - Just south of Horsham. 2 18-hole courses, 1 well-established and the other much newer. Not for beginners and also quite expensive, however the older of the courses is a great course; one of my favourites.
Cottesmore - Between Horsham and Crawley. 3 9-hole loops, plenty of trees, ditches and water. Easier and cheaper than Mannings.
Tilgate Forest - in Crawley, so a little way from Horsham, but not too far. As the name suggests, plenty of woodland, but a very pretty course and quite reasonably priced.
Rookwood - Just on the outskirts of Horsham. Newest of the courses and probably the best for beginners. Again reasonably priced.
Horsham Country Club - think that's what it's called. Again on the outskirts of Horsham, it's one I haven't played, but I believe it's a 9-hole par-3 course.
There are plenty more within 20-30 mins of Horsham (at least 10), but these are the nearest.
Hope this helps.

At the risk of taking this thread further off-topic (mods please move this if appropriate), I should point out that the Bar Billiards Golf Day, organised by Jim Millward, takes place on that very Friday, June 10, at Wildwoods, which is also in the vicinity, so might prove to be of interest.
Oge, I've PM'd you with a copy of Jim's email, won't post his contact details on this forum.
Mark.

And with the Open being on the Sunday, in case you are at a loose end on the Saturday night, Horsham may be able to organise a 'Challenge Friendly' (Horsham v Guernsey) - possible venues the Stout House in the town centre, or the Dun Horse at Mannings Heath. :-/ Forget that, just noticed its the England v Guernsey International, presumably also at Roffey !

Goodness me..... it's starting to look more like a Sussex Golf Directory than a thread about the Sussex Bar Billiards Website.... ::) ....maybe I should put some links on to local golf courses and charge them for advertising! 8-) ;D ;D
Personally, I like Cottesmore despite always putting (at least!) one ball in the lake on the way round, although I would agree that Mannings Heath is probably the best of those mentioned and is a good challenge to any golfer. ;)
However...... and sorry if I'm going totally off-topic here chaps.... ::) ... the Sussex Website has now been updated with all of the latest Inter League Results, averages and rankings. ;D

Hi Champs,
Although the info you need regarding the date of the Sussex Open is to be found somewhere here, it was not immediately obvious where.
I have therefore started a new thread, and added your post and some dialogue we've had with Oge - also about golf - on to it.
The entry form for the Sussex Open 2011 isn't available quite yet, but will be published on the AEBBA site as soon as it is!
Hope this helps, Regards,
tommo

Help needed.
We have managed to book ourselves into the Corttesmore for friday and the Rockwood on the saturday.
What we now need is some advice on where is best to eat and drink in Horsham. Overall what is the night life like.
Do you have a night club where 5 middle aged men trying to act like 18 year olds could go to.

Well Horsham is a very conservative sleepy market town where most good people are tucked up nicely in bed by 11pm. ;D ;D Having said that, your best option is to make for the Carfax (town centre) and Ye Old Stout House, where you will find a League bar billiards table. Later, if you duck down a little alleyway to the left you will come across Horsham's sole night spot, B52s, which is open till 2am: www.b52s.co.uk/

Hi Clive, is this the closest pub with a Bar Billiard table to the Roffey Club? as I see that the Stout House is 1½ miles away. The reason I ask is that Steven & myself are staying the night at a Premier Inn in Crawley (Gatwick Manor Royal) and will be there early, so we would like a game before Steven takes part in the "International" on the Sat night. Nearest one to the Roffey Club, Keith, is the Fountain, near Littlehaven station.
At the moment it's a non-league table (you can see it as a 'black peg' on the AEBBA Map), but BigJimSilverFox is looking after it, and preparing it for possible League play next season.
As luck would have it, we're playing on it tonight in the Billingshurst Jubilee Team Knockout, so you'll be able to see tomorrow how we got on. 8-)

Just to add that Crawley itself would be a dead loss for trying to find a table to play on: all the pubs threw their tables out when Pool came in and for years we've had to travel 10 or more miles North to Redhill, West to Horsham or South to Mid Sussex to participate in league matches.
