Bugger its already gone :( :( :( Double bugger - looks like it's gone to one of the many small firms who tart 'em up and resell them for a quick profit. They exist in Herts, Essex, Manchester and Bracknell(Berks). You'll soon see that one on offer for £1499 following a re-cloth and a lick of varnish. Money to be made on eBay - I'm about to corner the market on trading magnolia seeds. 8-)

Yes Sav, your goodself as well, but you're in it for love of the game, with the noble consideration of perpetuating availabilty of tables for tournaments.
Other opportunists (holding houses and agents) exist purely for the thought of making a fast buck.
Didn't think this one was your cup of tea, otherwise I'd have e-mailed you privately rather than post it on non-members for all to see. You always spot them before me anyway. ;)

looks like it's gone to one of the many small firms who tart 'em up and resell them for a quick profit. They exist in Herts, Essex, Manchester and Bracknell(Berks). The Manchester one is called Temperance World Media. He also makes a table called Rotapool (pool table which doesn't take up much space as it rotates and all shots are played from one standing position, so it can be chucked in a corner a bit like bar billiards). I have tried to find a website showing details of his base or workshop, but all his dealings appear to be via eBay. He's got two low bids in at the moment for bar billiards tables but is going to be unlucky because supply is drying up at the moment. Only 4 have been sold this month, at an average of £600 - usually it's about 12 a month at an average of around £450.

Yup, I've spotted him, highly dodgy.
The latest 'Stunning' offer is a narrow Sam's with no height adjusters and what looks like an MDF 'Slate' top.
I've managed to warn one of the bidders.

If it's that rather colourful effort, then I agree with Sav.
But I would say that my sympathy lies with the sellers rather than with the bidders sometimes. A lot of them own Narrow SAMs or Rileys which have been in their families for years. Everyone wants to buy something for nothing, and not all buyers really need a top quality table, just requiring something to knock about on.
What I am against, is dodgy characters (not Sav ;D) who buy up everything in sight for a quick profit, as soon there either won't be anything left for a genuine buyer apart from a modern Supreme top or a tarted up Jelkes at a vastly-inflated price.

Bugger its already gone :( :( :( Another nice Somerset one has just gone up there on eBay, Milhouse, lot number 230056167246. It's an authentic Jelkes, ex-Bar Billiards Ltd, with the thrupenny-bit legs, and the guy (from Weston-super-Mare) says he paid £850 for it six years ago. He doesn't sound the greedy type as her first put a reserve of £600 up and then dropped it to £500. £301 is the highest bid so far. Ends Sunday week, but the guy might close early if you offered him enough. ;)

Care recommended.
Looks a bit battered and so questionable care has beejn taken of it, certainly a repaired slate from the extra slate supports.

I stand corrected that the non standard narrow table without height adjusters, so it was 5 inches too low and a brown 'slate' was in fact stunning, good or bad???? I warned the bidder you had not mentioned the lack of the essential bulbous height adjusters, which you knew from my emails to you. Sav.

Anton, Thanks for your response and glad that I provoked one: it's good to know that people such as yourself are interested in bar billiards and clued up via our website !
I am happy to be put right on the point that you manufacture your own tables (in the style of SAMs Brothers) from new and do not just refurbish existing ones. This must make you UNIQUE.
I would add that I am a big fan of your Rotapool tables, and played on one in a pub in Appledore (Devon) once, though it may not have been one of yours as it was quite some time ago.
Keep up the good work, and the best of luck with your venture.

Yes I too remember the rotary hexagonal pool tables from many years ago. An interesting concept, though how you turn them without disturbing the balls must be difficult if the cloth has any sort of pace to it.
Tommo, our Mancunian friend hasn't said he would build a traditional table for a lot less than £1½k. I would be supportive of anyone building traditional oak or mahogany tables as I believe Mercury Leisure are, but not MDF that the veneer falls of when it gets a knock. Our friend has also not commented on the actual picture of the stripped table and I've yet to see a slate that isn't grey.
