We're all dab hands at these jokes, so I don't want any pouting!! ;D
I'm in correspondence with PTP and he seems genuine, though that could be a red herring as I'm still not unconvinced its one of the Northants lot on a windup.

There are those who some may think guilty, like HVP , ROO, JEL, but those would have none or limited knowledge of the Wboro 4 pin league, But Fazza.............. :-/

I played in the Wellingborough 4-pin league for one summer season years ago. I found that the game was won and lost AFTER the bar had dropped because all scores are then doubled, including the requisite 200 last ball shot where, if the red was kept for it, 800 could be scored. If you bear in mind that good scores were in the region of 1500 - 2500, you will see that the first 15 mins of the game were almost irrelevant.

Had a great evening in Wellingborough at the Crown and Anchor with our dear friend playing 4 pin.
Have never played this before and was fascinated by trying to work out" the formula shot"could not work it out but had success with our 1 up 50/10 (or 50/30 on a 3 pin table!)
Or is there a link here to the old "ban the oxford shot" thread?? No formula shot!
If there is a copy of the rules anyone could send me and information about how the game is played I would appreciate it.
And well done Mrs HonChair for kicking my butt!!!!!!

She has been known to kick mine too, Tim.
We had another practice session last night - played doubles and learned a lot about the tactical side of things ;)

One point I forgot to mention which could prevent a "real" go at these rules on our tables:
Not only is this game normally played on narrow tables, but also the nap is in the opposite direction as most scoring is off the back cushion.

Pete Thanks for the reply, I notice you said that" one point "you did not mention
But I cannot see any other points that you did!
Was there a post that did not stick?
If that is the case please post again as I would really like to get this information.
Have tried searching for info on the web but am only finding vey basic stuff!
Have found and inserted for you - 5 posts above this one - tommo.

It was probably on another thread where the 4-pin game was being discussed. No time to search myself (just back from my latest bb disaster and very tired) but I did play this for one season many years ago

I have visited the Wellingborough 4 pin league since honchair moved up there. The 4 pins are over the main pockets, 30 and 10 holes reversed. I am assured by one of their players that the perfect break pushes the red to the 20 or 10 and leave the white so next shot you stun the red into the 200 pocket off that white!
You have to play the red if available, an alternative is to have the peg in front of the 100 as a second black!!
The bar did seem to run over 15 minutes!
