He's probably better known for having been in the Moody Blues, Milko.

Thursday evening I went to the Half Brick in Worthing to see the Hamsters. a three piece outfit who play three different sets, A Jimi Hendrix set, a ZZ Top set and a general set. An excellent evening and if you get a chance go and see them. They have just announced they are playing at the Komedia on the last Thursday in September where they will play all three sets. Not only did Margo and I see Wishbone Ash tonight at Crawley's Hawth, but support band was....................The Hamsters ! :o ;D ;D 8-) They did a full hour and their repertoire included two brilliant Hendrix numbers ( Stone Free and All Along The Watchtower) and highlight was ZZ Top's Smart Dressed Man, with them leaving the stage to walk up the theatre aisles, swapping instruments and returning to play the finale with the bassist on lead guitar, drummer on bass guitar and a fine drum solo from the lead guitarist ! Genuine Musicians. 8-) But Wishbone Ash lived up to all expectations, they did a two-hour set which included some new stuff plus all the old favourites (The King Will Come, The Errors Of My Way, Time Was, Sometime World, Lady Jay, and my favourite, Persephone) They ended the set with a stonking version of Phoenix and came back for Blowin' Free as the encore. Andy Powell has improved his stage presence and seemed to be really enjoying himself, getting some really varied sounds out of his Royale Angel V Guitar: www.royaleguitars.com/royalehomepage.htm

Glad you liked the Hamsters. I think they are one of the hardest working bands. Playing to over 4,000 audiences of a 21 year period. I saw them at the Half Brick in Worthing last year.
Wishbone Ash now have two factions where the animosity between both factions are growing. I cannot see why when you can enjoy their music twice with both groups. I wanted to go but I am going to see the Oli Brown band at the Assembly Hall week Friday.

I went to the Assembly Hall in Worthing last night to see the Oli Brown Band. What a performer, well worth the £12 entry fee. An excellent star and performer. And still only 19. He has played with some great names already. Buddy Guy, John Mayall Walter Trout to name a few. He album will never make the charts but most great performers never do. A great first album as well. Playing anything from the Blues to Funk, he has it all. Well worth going to see if you get a chance.

RIP Jet Harris, died last week (18th March). Feel privileged to have seen him 'live' a couple of years ago at Horsham Arts Centre, where he didn't disappoint, cracking jokes between playing all the well-known numbers on an enormous guitar that seemed bigger than himself!

Went to see Van Der Graaf Generator at the Barbican last night. They didn't actually play this one, but this is a sampler of what to expect for anyone unfamiliar with their works...............Definitely an acquired taste, not sure if Margo was won over or not!

Joe Walsh, pre-Eagles. The guitar he later gave to Jimmy Page (who calls it his wife).

Rizzle Kicks, Down with the trumpets in the singles itune charts, and gets lots of plays on Radio 1. They also feature on Ollie Muhrs new single. The reason I am enjoying their success is that my nephew is one half of this duo, and I feel I no longer have to give him £30 at Christmas TSO

Last night I was privileged to see Joe Bonamassa at the Hammersmith Apollo. What an incredible showman doing a two and a half hour set of Rock/blues.
Joe also invited Elidih McKellar onto the stage to play with him. She is 17 with the ability of someone much older.
Check her out on
Roll on March 31st 2012 to watch him at the Brighton Centre.

I went to Brixton Academy last night and strolled down amnesia lane!
The Mission, Fields of the Nephilim and G love J with 5000 forty yr old goths!
Twenty odd years ago you could easily fit 5000 skinny goths in the academy. Last night everyone seemed to have gained about six stone so it was a wee bit of a squeeze!!
Great night though!

I like her very much Dave.
Reminds me very much of one of the longer Caravan tracks with a guitar interlude by Doug Boyle.
Went to see them last Wednesday at Canterbury and Doug Boyle no longer in the band. Still good, though. Elidih would be an ideal replacement !
