Pretty good, Ian
Now, I was listening to some albums the other day, and this track (which I hadn't noticed before) jumped out at me:
Tells the story of how McDonalds came about !

An unashamed plug for my nephew again. Rizzle Kicks will be on Xmas TOTPs. The album Stereotypicle has just gone gold and the new single, 'Mama do the hump', was released today and will be massive. The video features James Cordon. Maybe Tommo could do one of those http thingies. Be nice if he could put it on last weeks match reports. I tried to introduce the 8 Bells Bolney to Rizzle Kicks, via the juke box. Don't think it was a great success. TSO
[YouTube link added for you - tommo] It's James Corden, b.t.w.

Sounds of the Seventies Part 5 of 10 last night on BBC2 was dedicated to Heavy Metal bands. AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Bad Company, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Nazareth, Alice Cooper.
Took me back to when music was a meaningful part of everyone's life, and somehow - exciting. Not like the (c)rap of today.
Had tommo bopping in his armchair and playing air guitar - and no mistake ! ;D

Spellbound last night for an hour last night watching Led Zeppelin's one-off reunion concert from 2007 on BBC2.
Tommo was playing both air guitar and air drums but sadly voice wasn't what it was !
They did most of their best ones, but no Immigrant Song or Stairway to Heaven; however 'Kashmir' provided a great finale. 8-) 8-)
Go on then - here's Stairway to Heaven (1976 version) to make up for it!

Have just sat through a complete hour of Top of the Pops 2012. I must be getting old as I hated every second of it, from the overrated Ellie Goulding through the latest trend of Rap/Acid mix to the bland Christmas Number 1 by the X Factor winner. >:(
To retrieve the situation I have had to seek out something to lift the spirit, so here are couple of gems from the mighty Jethro Tull:

I thought that charity footie song made the #1? :-/ As at last week, yes, but James Arthur (who ?) grabbed it back and Simon Cowell got his way as usual.

A favourite of DaveJones, Seasick Steve was on Jools Holland Live last night, performing with John Paul Jones of Led Zep. Steve performed a brilliant blues number on his home-made hubcap guitar. Here's an earlier performance:

Well besides being a 4-pin specialist, tommo has a claim to fame! IanG's son is in a band too (on drums) so I'm not alone. Both H and AdamB (aka ponytailguy) have their own heavy metal bands. And what about the still-rockin' Dennis Atkins ? :))

I'll be going. Well Margo and I went to this and our ears are still recovering. (I also went to see them a week before with my bruv at the White Hart, Stopham, where they did a 2-hour set.) The Plough was absolutely heaving and the crowd were appreciative of the mix of blues and rock'n'roll. Second act on was a very impressive teenage guitarist called Tom Payne, heavily influenced by Buddy Guy and Jimi Hendrix: with Borrowed Time on the other hand the star is the lead singer, but on this occasion Martin stole the show with his Clapton-esque riffs. Great evening, and I bet it'll be like a morgue in there the next time we visit - on bar billiards night !

Just returned home from watching Dean Friedman live at the Cellars in Eastney, Portsmouth. A small venue (only holds about 140 people) which meant that you get really close to the action.... .... I last saw him 20+ years ago in Brighton, he is still superb and did a 2.5 hour set (with one small break) with just him, a guitar and keyboard playing many of his old hits (Rocking Chair, Lucky Stars, S&M, Lydia etc) together with some of his new material which was also really good. Fantastic evening and a big thank you to Colleen for the lovely surprise.... He is currently touring the UK, concert dates and lots of other information are shown on his website... deanfriedman.com/

Roll on 23rd Nov and the Malt Shovel. We got tickets to see Caravan at Whitstable instead. Seventh occasion now that I've seen them and they get more awesome and 'together' each time. The venue was the East Quay at Whitstable, and although just about the grottiest yet, with a pervading whiff of oysters, clams, crabs and lobsters, it provided an experience of a different kind. There are two huts at the end of a jetty, you have to walk round the perimeter of one, with waves lashing the shore, to get to the restaurant. This closed as the doors opened to the "Lobster Pot" and miraculously the same staff appear to main the bar in the other hut: No seating apart from a few benches against the windows, fortunately Margo managed to bag a rare place. Lots of waiting around (as we come to expect) and the young support band did a half-hour instrumental slot copying the avant-garde Canterbury sound. Then Caravan did 2 hours to a packed hall (there must have been about 600 of us packed in like sardines). We watched on a flat screen TV just in front of us and it was strange to catch an occasional glimpse of the band on the low stage, only seeing their heads which seemed somehow larger than life ! They performed two encores and all in all it was well worth the 160-mile round journey.
