Please see message from Sparky re a propsal recieved for discussion at the AGM re format of the League next season. We have had some feedback on this but thought I would put it up here for those that look in but not post. I remind you that this is not a rule change as the committee can format the League how they see fit deoending on the number of Registered teams.
Hello Everyone
In just 3 weeks time we are due for our Annual General Meeting so I would like to invite all existing or potential members of the Horsham & District Bar Billiards League to
The Roffey Club on 14th June 2011 for a prompt 8.30pm start.
Unfortunately I cannot be there myself and so take this opportunity to advise you of some items due to be discussed and hope that you will find them important enough to come along Please pass this message on to anyone not on this email recipient list.
A member has asked that the 2 Divisions are separated, and so do not play each other, the reasoning to this proposal is that each team & player should be playing against opposition nearer to their own standard. The other view is that if the Divisions are split you will not see about half of the venues & players in the whole League, in probability this would lead to playing Home & Away twice to the other teams in your division and consider what happens if there are 2 teams from the same venue. The elected committee already have the power to make such a change so the topic will be discussed and the views of the assembled members will be heard and taken into consideration when next year’s League Format is decided. It is important to remember that the number of teams that actually register can make a huge difference to any decision about this, and cannot be anticipated as early as the AGM. If you cannot attend the AGM, or just prefer to write down your views, then please write to or email Ian Giffen so your views can be read out.
We have 2 officials standing down this year, The League Secretary & the Competitions Secretary, so if anyone would like to stand for election onto the committee, either as any official or just an ordinary playing member, and would like to know more about what would be involved before the evening please contact Ian Giffen or any other existing committee member.
Please note I have also been advised that the Interleague Captain is standing down and in the event of nobody volunteering for this position a discussion will be started whether the league members actually want to have a representative team next year. There is precedent for the Committee being to able to fulfil this post after the AGM if required and someone is found later.
I am sorry to be so blunt but in my opinion, if you do not enter into the discussions, and any voting, at the AGM you should not grumble later on if things happen you do not like. This is the time to care about your Bar Billiards.
Also for your information the Perpetual trophies are currently having their engraving updated in readiness for the Jubilee Celebrations to be held at Roffey Club on Sunday 26th June 2011, 12 noon start, and therefore all of you are very welcome to attend and even take home any trophies owing from Finals Night.
Thank you
Graham Sparksman - Chairman HDBBL.
PS. If you cannot attend, please send an email to Ian Giffen so he can pass on your apology for non-attendance to the AGM.

Just a couple of things to add to this...................the hard-working Fixtures/Results Sec received a show of thanks for his efforts on behalf of the League, and a new Interleague Captain was elected to replace Vernon who is standing down.
