From the "A Good Read" thread: Wilkie Collins is a fascinating subject: he lived in Victorian times, yet had no sense of respectability (kept two mistresses!) I have read most of his books, starting with his two most famous - The Moonstone and The Woman In White - before moving on to the excellent No Name, the rather short Basil and the lengthy Armadale. So, as there wasn't a lot on TV last night worth watching, decided to catch up on the recent 5-part series of The Woman In White made in 2017 and shown over the last few Sunday/Mondays. Margo and I enjoyed the first episode so much we stayed up to watch all five episodes (5 hours-worth in one go !) A brilliant yarn, has everything: brilliant scenery (the Lake District versus 19th Century London) dastardly villains, mis-treated females, an ingenious plot, a love interest, an Italian Count (though nothing like the 20-stone one described in the book !) And Charles Dance plays the really annoying and wimpish Mr Fairlie to perfection. Soon to be out on DVD.

Recommended: new Freeview Channel 78 "Now Music from the 70's".
But a warning: it's addictive. Stumbled upon it late last night and caught rare footage of the Eagles' Hotel California. Early morning viewing today took in Kate Bush, The Carpenters, Bee Gees, then teatime we saw half an hour of Rod Stewart. Were still watching at 8pm having taken in Queen, Free, Slade, Bowie, Elton John, Mud, Stones, Racey, Sweet, Showaddywaddy, Darts, Blondie, Moody Blues, Abba and Elvis.

By coincidence Tommo, I found these channels recently on Virginmedia channels 346-348 (60s, 70s, 80s) and in fact the 80s is playing now. Good stuff! Tony
