Have just spent the afternoon at the Limes with a few others (Simon, Gary, DaveJ) assisting - but mainly watching - Chris Saville re-furbishing the Limes table.
Chris agreed to do this at very short notice, as our new season gets underway on Tuesday. This not only gives the home players a chance to get acquainted with their table in its new pristine condition, but also gives all away teams a 'balanced playing field.'
The table has not only received a covering of Hainsworth Match baize as used in his 'championship set', but has also now been braced underneath the slate where a crack was observed.
After final adjustments with levelling, it is probably now one of the best - if not THE best - table in the League.
Our thanks to Chris for his excellent job, and for all the useful tips we picked up on such things as tailoring the cloth, fitting the pockets down perfectly, cementing them underneath (after mixing the compound), shuffling the board back into the frame, and of course fitting a brace if found necessary to do so.
Hope you made it back okay on the Beamer in the rushhour traffic. :o

Back safely, through Operation Stack closing the M20 and an accident halting everything on the other motorway. Thank goodness I was on the bike!
The Limes table was certainly a greater challenge than I expected from a Bar Billiards Ltd league table. One of the worst cracks I have seen in a slate with movement and very perished, broken, cushion rubber that must have been like it when the table was last recovered. Good job I took a slate brace with me.
Not a good recommendation for what we have taken over.!!!
Hopefully it will be OK and your players can handle a fast table and that you have learned the rudiments.
Glad to have helped out.
Sav.
