The Z's were up against the wall, with three regulars unavailable and being obliged to call two reserves into action. Margo tried valiantly and with the bar gone could have won by 10 but only one ball went down and after a couple of attempts she lost on the last ball. 0-1 MrMike007, newly licensed to thrill, had a 'mare of a game and got overtaken at the last knockings. 0-2 But an animal is at its most dangerous when backed into a corner, and the Z's came out fighting, and with a good rearguard action snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat.
Handcross Z 3, Plough 2

MrMike007 1650, Steve Whyte 3210

Graham Daniels 4050, Keith Potter 1360

Watermill 3 Handcross 2 all low scoring games. Q lost out on a winning break in 4th so it went 2 all with yours truly having the honors a scrappy leg where I needed both last balls to go down but 1 stayed up table uphill missed 100 by a long way opponent needed the big one to win which he sank first time :'( :'( so I lost on the last ball. Food report lovely Thai green curry with egg rice & loads of it. :D

Unlucky Ian.
The curry sounded nice. Better not take Margo when we play there - I might not get a look in. ;D
Played the Handcross table in its new place for first time last night. Position not bad, but no really high scores. I'm sure it will be okay once it's had a chance to settle in.
I added a white spot to the 'D' as Q requested, and have left a sheet of spares on the wooden dresser which is next to the table.

Yes I think new position for table is the best compromise away from the dangers posed from the new dance floor ie drinks & food on table. Once fag machine has been moved it will be more comfortable for the scorer. The pool table is going to be swapped round so the break end is the other end to our table 8-) Didn't mention in first report stormin norm's black peg when he was way in front of Chris :). Ian.

You're just suffering from a temporary loss of confidence, Q. You probably set too high a standard for yourself last year, and now need something to restore the feel-good factor.
Just one good performance will do the trick. Other than that a simple thing like re-tipping your cue or learning a new shot can have the desired effect. I put my own relatively good form at the moment down to using the wife's cue. :o :o :o

Courtesy of Roy Wells...again Greyhound put themselves top of the premier with a solid home display against the Droops with no home player scoring less than 3K. Honours even after 2 with Paul Goodwin taking the first and Richard Jeffrey the second. Straight wins then for the home side with Peter Burchell, Chris Watson and Trevor Rees bringing in the points and keeping their 100% record. The Zeds stay close to the top with 4 wins from 5 starts after this close encounter at home against Plough. The visitors took a 2frame lead with wins for Nick Rees and Steve Whyte before Clive Thompson stopped the rot with a true captains performance in the third against his opposite number. Jonny Haigh and Graham Daniels then grabbed the last 2 legs to take the match. Windmill swapped places with Hurst at the bottom of the premier despite this home win over the Vees. The home side took the first 3 games, thanks to Lynne Storr, Mike White and Steve Smith. Vees’ Trevor Appleby and Sparky took much needed points from the last two legs but remain in last place. Saints table has been re-positioned and it didn’t suit them as this surprising result shows. Hurst got their first win of the season and levered themselves off the bottom. Kevin and Lorraine Hall took the first 2 frames before Ray Fogwill pulled one back for Saints. Roy Wells and Rob Hall then took the last 2 to move their hosts into second place in division 1. Kleiners move down a place after this disappointing result at White Horse. The home side took the first 4 legs with wins for Ian Turner, Steve Haskins, John Ruffle and Colin Mansfield. Trevor Howes put in the best score of the evening to take a consolation point from the fifth. Watermill leapt to the top of division 1 after a good home performance over Handcross SC. Kim Stenning took the first for the home side before Chris Kirkham evened things up with the lowest winning score so far this season. Dazza put the Club into the lead with a win in the third but the home side rallied with wins for John Willis and Chris Nikolas to take the match and the bonus points. STOP PRESSGreyhound played their postponed game against Handcross A last Sunday.... and won 5-0 putting them 6pts clear at top.
