Just got in from an entertaining Horsham Finals Night where the Team Cup Final turned out to be a stunner after all: A huge cheer went up when Pete Hartley sank the last 200 to win it 3-2 for Stout House BB.
But the night really belonged to the Silver Fox, who added to his Masters title on Sunday by lifting the Mens Singles, Mixed Doubles (with Lorraine), Mens Doubles (runner-up with Bob Hall) and Highest Break (Masters).
More to come tomorrow in the way of a proper report from the organisers, hopefully. 8-)

An excellent evening, Tommo, had a great time (but not feeling too clever this morning!). Many thanks to the committee for organising and to the Roffey for hosting.

Just to add some history........ - For the Roffey Y team, it is their 7th League Championship, equalling the achievement of the mighty Five Oaks.
- Lorraine Hall won her 4th Ladies Singles title.
- Peter Gibbs won the Div One Best Performance for the 3rd year running; and
- the Div 2 Singles was the same final (D.Lennon v S.Hopkins) for the 3rd year running - with the same result !
Much to do now in updating the Horsham website !

Much to do now in updating the Horsham website ! Yes Peter Gibbs has the upper hand over Micky Fairs in the best performance stakes. Quite incredible that the same pair have reached the Lower Division Finals with the same outcome each time. Dave Lennon played well but Steve did have his chances. Congratulations to all winners & Runners up. Great night all round Well done to bobhall on his first Finals night as comp sec & we had roughly the same numbers turn out as last year. Thanks to those that contributed to the Raffle & helped us raise so much for League funds. Thanks to Graham for giving up his time to set the tables up for both competitions.

Having now sifted through all the records, the Grand Slam of Singles, Pairs and Mixed Doubles has been achieved just once in each of the local leagues, Richard being the first for Billingshurst: 1977/78 John Slee (Horsham League) 1981/82 Peter Gibbs (Crawley League) 1985/86 Gerry McCarthy of Horsham (Sussex Finals) 2010/11 Richard Plaw (Billingshurst League)All of the above landed all three titles on the night. I myself had a chance in 2001/02 when I was in all three Mid Sussex finals, but sadly only managed to win one of them - the Mixed Doubles ! Congratulations to Jim Greensted on his 'narrow miss' on the Grand Slam for Horsham in 2011/12. "Two out of three ain't bad." But adding the Masters in the same year is a unique achievement in itself. 8-)
