I now have 3 x 20k Breaks under my belt but for me it is quite easy......... einy meiney miney mo....... my first against Sir Kt in the Sussex Open 2009. Why..... Because it was my first, I Knocked out England number 1 and took a personal PB in one game. Also Denise Wills scored it and it was on table 4 ;)

I was wondering as 20K is the target people aim for what would be your favourite 20k and why? The one for me was a few years ago when we had a rearranged match in the old Canterbury league a few days before Presentation Night. We found out that the high score trophy had already been engraved with the 23500 that Chas Jones had got cos no one would beat the highest ever Canterbury score. Our match was a mid table affair and mattered nowt so 23500 became the target on a normal length table. I ran the table out for 24100 and from then until the league folded you could see where the perpetual trophy had been re-engraved! ;D ;D Sav

Haven't had one myself, so my favourite 20k is the 24,710 made by Nigel in the Brighton A v Redhill A Interleague match at the Brewery Tap on 18/11/2007.
As Nigel approached the winning post, an enthusiastic local (who had been watching through the window from the outside) came in and crouched down by the side of the table, looked up at him and said "Cor, you're good at this, aren't you ?" - fortunately Nigel was able to hold himself together.
He was more peeved at missing out on the sight of the two girls kissing in the other bar while playing pool ! ;D

Although i`ve had one or two ;D, my favourite would have to be chasing Tony Walsh`s 24,000 in the Berkshire singles final a few years ago. I beat him by 100 ;) Not a bad competition that night as the two losing semi-finalists were Paul Sainsbury & Mark Turner :o

Whilst not my highest the 22,950 I made chasing John Burrows 22,890 in the AEBBA singles back in the 90's is my favorite. And I didn't even win the Group!
Mind you being the first (and so far only) to make 25k at the Imperial Southborough AND bettering Sir KT's 24k+ on the same table was quite fun ;)

KT spotted it before the start of the second leg and very sportingly let him sink it meaning he was then chasing 24,000, which he then caught! Cracking game.

My first and favourite would have to be this one! Taken from the report i posted about a game played on 12th April 2007 - 2 1/2 years after i started playing and my first season playing in the Oxford League!
Mens Individual Semi-final result played at the Dolphin....
Mark Trafford 22,220 Kevin Godfrey 20,450
Both games were run outs
2 firsts for me. First time played a table out and first 20k break

Ha the one Tommo mentions was funny. A few of mine are special, made 2 successive 20,000 breaks (exactly) to win Bouremouth with Chris Reeves in the semi final and final.
Also a couple against Richard Wooton, 20,070 in Worthing singles, Richard missed the 100 on 19.990 to win. Also Ports quarter finals - Richard was 19,520 up and I made 21,130, I think my biggest ever come back.
Also the first are good, 20,030 was my first 20k in 2001 at the Stadium against Jean Brackenridge, potted the last ball down the 100 hole, my first 25k at the Stadium again against Alan Messer in 2006 (25,330) still my biggest break.
Perhaps my best one though came in the 2009 international 20,540 off the spot against Sean Le Beuvant, very rarely do you get a chance to make a 20k break for England.

I've only ever made one 20k break In a competition match and that was against Keith Sheard. I'm not sure which open it was but all I remember is Keith had the first break and broke down around 2k, we spent a minute or so getting nothing until Keith got the break back and finished the first game with around 19k. I then ran the table out with just over 20k. By far my biggest achievement, After the match all I got from Keith was "I can't believe I was beaten by speed" He was well shocked.

I still live in dreamland that it may happen but the years are advancing and the game falling apart!!!!!! Always good to have targets so will always Aadmit would love just one, my best is 18700 competitively, but that was a few years back. Always take pleasure in seeing others do it, although we talk about it happening a lot still a special score.

I would think your first would be the most memorable, mine was 20k against the break. I actually rolled up at 20k, I don't think anyone in the Tun Wells league had done that in a league match,. Done it whats the fuss about although my team mates asked why i did not finish it off. That was in 1976, I thought you were supposed to get better with experience, well I am proof that's not the case !!!

In case further proof of that statement were needed, I had a 12,560 in the League in 1975 as a 25-year-old. It then took me until the year 2000 to better it. :o Don't think I'll ever bag a 20k - unless I can install my back room table into a pub somewhere !

That wouldn't be difficult would it Tommo, with The Mill House just round the corner ;D
