3 match @ glads
Dave lost the toss :(
Graham lost to Simon - very one sided game simon scoring nearly 10k on a break :(
Keith beat Chris - didnt do much with brek, chris got two up, I then lost a break of over two with about 4 minutes to go, chris scored a bit. I got the break back and knocked up nearly 3 in about 2min plus the bar ( i thought I had lost so through caution to the wind and went for it) probably the quickest I have ever gone even Graham was surprised and Simon said well done on catching that. :)
Sid beat Sean (scrappy game) with sid getting the rub of the green at key points :)
Graham lost to Simon - well what can you say other than fair play for running the table out with just over 15k :(
Keith lost to Chris, made a mistake on just over 2 and chris scored a steady 6.5K leaving about 3-4 min left got ball s back but didnt happen. :(
So Sid had to get a new record of about 25K to win it - he didn't and lost to Sean :(
Good luck in next round

Im with you there dick that's not really fair on the lower league player no need to play the table out hear hear! If people dont like the table being played out against them, then why enter the competition? This is a 3's comp, the team entered should expect to play against top players. Fair play to Simon

Agree with Lewis here, as this was a competition, then Simon was fully in is right to play the table out. Would have been disappointed to see him do this if it was a league match.

I agree it was within simons right but with the greatest respects to graham, hes never going to do the same thing back to simon, and the lower league players enter for the table time (non existant in this case), not to win! It just seems a bit disrespectful.

It just seems a bit disrespectful. I think you are missing the point here Phil as the HCC players to follow in Sid & Keith are both capable of big Breaks/scores themselves, so Simon needed to get a big score to make sure of the aggregate. What would have happened if Simon kicked for touch on 5k knowing the game was won, but then lost the match on agg because of this?

I fully agree with Dick - it is a pointless exercise (and very demoralising)for Graham to turn up for a game only to have to stand there for both games with barely a shot. It wouldn't surprise me when this starts to happen in the league, the lower teams just don't turn up.

I think this is very unfair for Simon to take all this flak on here, it has already been pointed out that this was a 3's match so the aggregate may have been needed!

I was at the match in question & when Simons game came up the Comrades 3 were 2-1 down & with both Keith & Sid to play Simon needed to post a good score to put these to players under pressure. there was every chance that Keith & Sid would have beaten their 2 opponents as they had done so in the earlier games. I would put a bet on that had Simon taken out black peg & lost his big break & Graham went on & won with a small score we would not be debating this. Through the years Simon has brought a lot of up & coming players into the game so give him a break.

As the lower section player involved here, firstly could I remind everyone that no one, least of all me, has complained about the match played last Thursday. It was a Cup game, we entered knowing full well that we could draw strong opposition and accepted the risk of playing against the big boys. My games against Simon were 1 and 4 and of course he was going to score all the points he could knowing that Sid and Keith were to play after me - both players being more than capable of making big scores themselves, therefore aggregate score could have been relevant. I believe that we all had a good night, OK we lost 4-2 which to us was a good result but in Simon's defence, as soon as he finished his second game he came over to me, apologised and said that had it been a league fixture he would not have played the table out. In some 20 odd years of playing it's the first time I have had the table played out against me and it was good to watch!! Now, had it been a league match...............
