Hi Craig the answer is no it is the luck of the draw and the plate will have played rounds already

I just think this shows that the draws have to be done properly in the future and have all byes in the first round so this does not happen.

Its just luck of the draw at the end of the day, and i will be honest id rather draw kennington and play some billiards than walk into the semis but thats apparently how it goes. I dont think we should scrutinise the draw to such an extent if im being vastly diplomatic here.

Hi Craig the answer is no it is the luck of the draw and the plate will have played rounds already This seems hardly fair seeing as we have not had a say in this matter and as Phil said and i think the whole team would agree we would rather play billiards than get a bye straight through to semi's

What is the difference between one bye or many bye's unless you have an even number there has to be a bye so either way not everyone will play.
Delboy says everyone has to enter well they do enter along with the relevant number of bye's to get to the correct multiple of 1,2,4,8 etc - they are still in the draw and correct me if I am wrong but that would comply with the rules of entering all teams into the draw

I agree with you Craig that the rules do state that you should go into the plate, but the problem is that you will have to play down to the final of the main competition before you start the plate and i do not know if there is going to be time to do that.
Phil - I think you are being a bit paranoid thinking this is an issue just because it is Berinsfield.
Alan - Thanks for the clarification, didn't know it was a rule of the competition, just thought it was something Pete done to get all teams involved in the first week.

You say that you have "paid" to enter this competition, but correct me if i am wrong, when you enter the league it stipulates free entry into the KO cups ?

Scotland ash is a form of knockout cup with a plate area in it as well it states on entry form that you will be enterd into both the Scotland ash and the team knockout cup

Mark im not saying issue in the context of everyones kicking off as its berinsfield who had the bye, i meant it in the way that you said we need to draw the competitions properly and such like when in all fairness, from where im sat anyway, they need only work with what they have at their disposal and given we had 13 teams rather than 16 (which would avoid the byes) we still have to dish out byes, otherwise we wouldnt be having this conversation.

As in previous years this competition is played as the 1st match on the fixture list (except for a couple of times) involving all the teams, then bye's next round and this will continue until told differen't. I know it's the luck (or bad luck) of the draw and I do feel sorry for Berinsfield but sadly that's what happens at times. I was very surprised with all the comment's made, after all I only put the draw on the forum for all to see. This is the draw folks and that's it. Pete

Pete Pete,i understand you are only following the set of rules as set out to you at the AGM. The main point on this is that if Berinsfield lose their semi-final game, will they get put into the plate competition? As far as i am aware, the competition states that you will go into the plate if you lose your FIRST match ?

I know it's "luck of the draw" but I think it would have been fairer on other teams and Berinsfield if Berinsfield had been put straight into the next rd rather than have a second bye :o then they could have gone into the plate if they lost their first match.
Too late now but maybe a rethink by the committee on how the draws done next year!

There first match was a bye therfore they won A bye is not a game neither in anyway shape or form does it count as a game its simply a free pass to the next round i think its unfair that we don't get to go into the plate if we loose why should we not get the same chance as everyone else.

Keith I agree with you on this and think Berinsfield should of been left out of the draw and a card picked as to whether they were home or away in the upcoming round. This way they would of been able to enter the plate. Ian

At the committee meeting held Wed it was agreed that a team will be pulled out of the original draw which will now have the bye and replaced with Berinsfield Club....So it was Glad's B who now have the bye and Berinsfield will now play Kennington Club at home in the next round.
Revised Draw Berinsfield v Kennington Vikings v Democrats Masons A v Didcot CC Glad's B..Bye
Plate as before Comrades v Dolphin HCC v Masons B Byes.'Marlborough & Glad's A
