Worthing A v Lewes apparently called off by Lewes.
Redhill C v Brighton B also did not take place, some confusion over the clash with the County Champs Div 3 played today - which Surrey B finished up not going to anyway !!
So we have Redhill A v Worthing B at the Old Oak, played tonight.....
Geoff Jukes 13,010, Paul Barnett 0 (1-0) Clive Thompson 3840, Doug Mahy 6360 (1-1) Laurie Roberts 130, Bill Kerr 12,130 (1-2) Gary Powell 8460, Gary Ridley 3280 (2-2) Jason Wadsworth 1000, Phil Oakley 3450 (2-3) Terry Oakley 9420, Dave France 6900 (3-3) Dave Constable 8270, Nick Brown 0 (4-3) Result - Redhill A 4, Worthing B 3.
Worthing B were sitting pretty at 3-2 up with Dave France with the break on next. But both balls went awry on more or less his first split, and he didn't get another go until 9360 later, Terry Oakley handling the pressure superbly. Dave still had time to rattle in a quickfire 6k break in the time remaining. D.C then brought home the bacon in the battle of the captains.

Mid Sussex A 3 - 4 Worthing C
Haven't got the scores to hand, but wins for Dave Ingram, Derek Taylor and myself for Mid Sussex, and Ric Cunningham, Steve Aylmore, Tony Jenner and Dave Jones for Worthing. A closely fought match on a tough top!

Sorry, don't have scores, but Mid Sussex B 4 Redhill B 3
Wins for me, Trevor Rees, Adam PTG (minus pony tail) and Dazza.
PTG got a wonderful 10,590 against the break, with a super break of well over 9k 8-)

Worthing C 4 Mid Sussex A 3
Rick Cunningham 5340 1780 Andy Farmer Wright Gina Sherratt 1990 4090 Dereck Taylor Charlie Cooper 1850 3740 Dave Ingram Steve Aylmore 7420 1090 Graham Sparksman Adam Squires 2160 3470 Henry Brooks Tony Jenner 4110 2640 Richard Jefferies Dave Jones 2590 1350 Pete Edwards
A friendly evening with good banter, mine host laid on a very nice stew or if prefered pasta bake, Colleen and Gina supplying excellent cakes for DA-DM birthday. Not a lot to say about the game as I am still rather lost for words of a suitable nature to say about the table. Still a very enjoyable evening and know Mid Sussex are going to add to the usual competitive nature of Division Two. Going to be another see-saw season I feel.

Looking at the number of games cancelled already a concern that we are going to have a repeat performance of fixture back up that happened last season and remind teams that a new rule was passed at the Sussex AGM to stop just hat occurence. Know it is early days, but feel that some reasons rather strange, i.e Redhill due to County Championships and they did not actual attend!!!

Facts are sketchy at the moment , BigTJ, so maybe we shouldn't judge. I would guess that Redhill C tried to switch to a Monday night (as there are a choice of 2 nights) but this was inconvenient to the opponents due to a clash with some players' League night ?
This was as much as I could glean from a rather distraught and forlorn Richard Plaw who was spectating the A's match last night and I'm sure would rather have been in the thick of the action.
Incidentally I see that the Tunny Wells match also did not take place last night, almost certainly due to the County Champs Div III which some of them did attend.

Regarding Redhill C vs Brighton B We are trying to re-arrange this for next sunday and I will be confirming with Richard in the next couple of days. We are mindful of the new regulations brought in this season and we will of course be complying to the letter.

Worthing A v Lewes
Unfortunately Lewes cancelled yesterday lunchtime, Marcus said he had two withdrawals at the last minute. Will be checking with the players to see if next sunday is ok.
Went to watch Horsham v Littlehampton instead last night, enjoyable evening and great to see Lady H :-* win the crucial 4th leg. Horsham won the last 3 games but to no avail.

Nice to see Horsham back this season. Yes indeed, and they will be a force this year despite this early setback (no provisioning for the increasing excellence of Lady H ;D). Most of them are my old team buddies and I know they can play. All they've been lacking is a decent captain, and now they've got one in Vernon, so long as he doesn't get too distracted by the barmaids etc. ;D

Yes i agree with you Tommo about Horsham, instead of being 0-4 up we could of easily been 4-0 down the key was keeping your breaks which Horsham did not do, all 4 Horsham players lost winning breaks or breaks to bring them back into the match and if you can't keep your points you will not win. We were lucky but took advantage of their mishaps. :-).

If rules were changed at the sussex agm it would perhaps be helpful to inform inter league captains of said changes.
Like Doug we would be mindful of said changes once we knew what they were.

This is what was posted by dave Jones under Sussex Agm 'Yes, there are two additions to the rules regarding inter league. These are as follows:– Inter league home and away New rules 8. League’s entering B, C or D teams. A maximum of two teams are permitted to use the same venue, unless there are more than one table at the venue (ie 2 teams per table). 9. Any games cancelled between series 1 & 5 must be re-arranged before the start of series 6. Any games cancelled between series 6 onwards must be re-arranged before the last series of matches'. Which has been available for all to read! Or as an Inter league captain you could always turn up to the AGM :o

The Re arranged match from last Sunday was played last night at the Imperial. I dont have the scores but here is a rough idea of what happened.
Tunbridge Wells 1 Brighton A 6
Game 1 Richard Wooton played a captains game and won 1st against the break with about 5k. ;D 0-1 Game 2 Gareth Lloyd won with Break 10k and touch followed by a further 2k ;D 0-2 Game 3 Tupper Time, Tupps won with the break off at 5k and finished on around 9k ;D 0-3 game 4 Nigel had little chance against the break, his oppenent opened with a slow steady 10k giving Nige little chance to catch :'( 1-3 Game 5 Chris Reeves won with break touched on 10k ;D 1-4 Game 6 Dave Reeves followed in chris's footsteps and also touched on 10k ;D 1-5 Game 7 My self against break but ended up with break as my opponent left the cue ball on the left peg spot after whipping the 100. I opend with 6k and hit a further 2k to finish on 8K ;D 1-6
A great evening followed by a fantastic cornbeef hash, sausage and chips.

Well done Mr Reaper on an impressive debut for such illustrious company. Winning against the break too - shows you were far from outshadowed. Does Nigel still hold top place on the Imperial's quiz machine ? ;D All crowding round the arcade quiz machine afterwards - spot the difference between the pictures of scantily-clad females. Recording the score afterwards on the Leader Board - whose name should appear ? Nigel Senior's ! :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D

Good result for the champions at Tunbridge Wells, with me being the only loser :'(, although Neil gave me no chance with a very good opening break.
Well done to the reaper on a fine debut.
