Hi inter league BB fans
Result card for Div 3 Match Billingshurst v Eastbourne played at The Limeburners
Barry Dumbrill* 2530 5050 Colin Southouse Ding Johnson 1540 7660 Peter Payne* Mick Johnson 4780 2690 Nigel Pead* Steve Holden* 2130 3560 Chris Haynes Steve Eely 5980 3080 Chris Turner* Mark Davies bp 3660 Chris Hagger* Chip Sawyer 3440 960 Mike Reilly
Result Eastbourne win 4-3
Thanks to Billingshurst for agreeing to start at 5.30pm tonight
Barry and Colin had plenty of chances but both failed to make headway Colin working on a 2k+ break at the bar made the difference
Peter missed the break but Ding never got going and Peter never looked troubled once he got it back with 2 nice 3ks in the game
Nigel was off early and paid the ultimate price with Mick making steady progress throughout
Steve was off early and like the previous game never recovered with Chris staying ahead throughout making the score 3-1 with eastbourne winning 2 games against the break, it looked all over with 2 breaks still to go but....
But Steve Eely came to the party on a mission to save the match for Billingshurst and after a 2k+ opening break things looked rosy for Eastbourne but Steve was undaunted and played well to take the game from Chris Turner
Mark Davies and Chris Hagger were giving each other plenty of chances but no one could make a telling break, but Chris had the advantage for all but the dying seconds of the game, Mark recovered the break to play the table out needing 180 off the last ball for a great victory and to level the match 3-3, sadly for the billingshurst team the black peg fell giving Eastbourne the match
Chip Sawyer and Mike Reilly struggled to keep their scores for the majority of the final game but a nice 2.5k at the end gave a consolation game to the home team
Nice match the result could easily have been reversed tonight but Eastbourne continue to ride their luck, good company and some nice bits and bobs from Chip at the end.

Worthing A 4 Redhill A 3
Martin Cope 10,330 v 3,080 Jason Wadsworth - Superb opening 10k break by Nipper ;) Ian Lelliott 7,840 v 6,700 Geoff Jukes - Steady opener from Geoff, but left Ian time to catch. Martin Smith 3,820 v 8,100 Gary Powell - 7k opener from Gary, Martin unable to get to grips with the top Jim Greensted 13,630 v 600 Terry Oakley - Jim off early twice until he clicked the third time with 10k Barry Holt 15,590 v 420 Colin Robbins - Solid 9900 opening break for Barry Stu Mepham 5,300 v 6,670 Dave Constable - Couple of breaks for DC, Stu ran out of time when chasing KT 3,790 V 7,380 Tony Cross - I was off under 2k, got them back and had a rather large kick which resulted in both balls missing by miles on the break. Tony made a steady 7k for the point
Great evening with the Redhill boys, lovely spread of ribs, sarnies, cheesy roast potatoes and some chicken pastry things.

The scores from the Midsussex B V Lewes match
Ian Giffen:4640 Richard Todd:1770 Mick Kirwan: 5820 Chase Newnam:460 Ros Appleby:4160 Darren Newnham:1420 Richard Spurrier:11250 Ric Bithell:60 Trevor Rees:3620 Dave Knight:3130 Paul Jobbins:2970 Jan Bithell:2340 Paul Moyes-Robb:2350 Kev Stoner:4870
Bit of a shock result. Nothing went right for the Lewes team with unlucky pegs and a couple of 4-breaks. I'm sure the next meeting will be a lot closer. A very enjoyable evening nonetheless. Cheers all.
