Quite an epic match at the Atlas tonight, it deserves a proper write up.
Atlas C vs West Hill A
Jim Millward 8,520 - 10,480 *Chris Tupper Chris opened up with an excellent steady break of 10,480. Even after that and with only about 7-8 minutes to go, Jim ran the rest of the table out but didn't have enough time. 1-0 to the West Hill
Grant Tully* 10,170 - 6,550 Micky Winder Same as the previous leg, Grant kicked off with 10,170 before touching up, then Micky went on to clear the rest of the table. 1-1.
Steve Mariner 980 - 10,810 *Colin Smith Colin broke down very early, but left a very tough leave which Steve could not return. The same then happened again and once again Steve was unable to return a ball left dead behind the 10 hole. Colin once again got the balls back and made enough and slowly finished off the leg. 2-1 to the West Hill.
Glenn Chubb* 10,790 - 920 Kev Simmons As has been the norm for the last few matches, I came of with less than a grand, but on my second visit I managed to get the balls back and grind out enough to kill the leg, managing to leave the 1 up in such a huge range of positions that I'm thinking I should change my forum name to "Mr Versatile". 2-2 and we're down to the deciding leg.
Geoff Jukes 7,250 - 6,390 *Dave Reeves Dave played a bad split early and got into trouble at the back, missing a ball and losing about a thousand. Geoff managed to give both balls a chance but neither of them dropped, and Dave then came to the table to make a very slow and steady 6,390. When he broke down Geoff returned to the table with I think 5 and a half minutes left, got the balls straight back to play superbly and run the table out to win what was a great match. 3-2 to the Atlas C.
A few noticeable things i will take away from tonight's match are as follows:
* That's the first time I've ever seen Geoff show emotion when playing * Tuppers Shoes have a magic effect on his playing skills * In recording this victory, the first time we went into the lead in the match was 25 seconds before the final bar dropped. * There should be a national "Blue Tac" Billiards Championship. You'll just have to trust me on that one!
It was a wonderful night all round. Thank you to the Atlas and Matt for the excellent food, and too the West Hill for all the entertainment that went with the night, and to Steve and Jim for after the match introducing me to the wonders that can be achived when you think "outside the box" with regards to cue tip replacement. Looking forward to our next game already :)
