Congratulations to Hastings for winning the Division 2 One Day Competition yesterday.... In an exciting finale to the day, there were only 3 points separating all 6 teams going into the last series of matches but Hastings beat West Sussex 4-3 to finish on 20 points to just pip Horsham to the title by 1 point after Horsham beat Eastbourne 5-2 in the last game. Lewes finished 3rd with 18 points after beating Billingshurst 4-3 in the last match. ;)
In a day that was notable for some very close games (I think that there were at least 10 last ball games! :o), Colin Southouse was the only unbeaten player with 5 wins and an average of 7,476 and Mike Daw hit the highest score of 12,050 and was one of 12 players who won 4 out of 5 games, Mike's only defeat being against Colin in the first game of the day. ;D
Horsham undoubtedly won the award for the "Noisiest Team of the Day" (and probably boosted the bar takings considerably for the Hurst Club in the process!) in a competition that was notable for the friendly banter between all of the teams, especially when a bit of local rivalry was involved. 8-)
It's hard to compare how the tables performed in comparison to last year, as the games were double legs then rather than single legs this year, however the individual player averages were up by about 10% overall this year in comaprison to last year.... although the tables did look slightly tougher yesterday in comparison to Saturday from what I saw of the games that I watched. :-/
My thanks go again to the Hurst Club for their hospitality over both days of the weekend, Colin Robbins for his usual superb food and to the people who willingly gave their time to prepare the venue and tables for the competitions (Kevin Hall, Rob Hall, Tony Jenner and Colleen) and also to Lorraine Hall and Dave Knight who stayed behind yesterday to help tidy things up at the end of the day. 8-)
Colleen did a superb job again with the raffle and we raised another £120, so my thanks to all of the players for their generosity with this as it helps to pay for the hire of the tables for the competitions. :D
The results, scores and updated rankings have been put onto the Sussex Website from the weekend.... although I'm having a problem with the links on my computer at the moment so will have to rectify that at some time soon to be able to check to make sure that they are visible on there..... ::)

Well done to Hastings securing promotion to div 1 interleague one day comps, i'll just check who ended up top of the averages ::) ::) :-* regs cs Yeah, easy to do without Q there. ;D Horsham undoubtedly won the award for the "Noisiest Team of the Day" (and probably boosted the bar takings considerably for the Hurst Club in the process!) Yeah, but that's down to just one person ! ;D Well done to Horsham, runners-up with a bit of a makeshift side. 8-)

Obviously one of the two West-Sussex's listed ! No surely not ::) Yeah.... okay guys, it had been a long weekend and I messed up and forgot to put Eastbourne at the bottom of the League Table instead of West Sussex when I updated the spread sheet, although I'm sure that Gandalf wouldn't have been too unhappy about that! ::) ;D It's on there properly now and thanks for pointing it out. 8-)

Top work Dave as always, can't believe how quickly it is all processed. So good in fact that there is no way you would be entered in the plate ;)

Top work Dave as always, can't believe how quickly it is all processed. Very much so, all data clear and precise, and enables me to feed off it to supply three websites (Hor, Bil & M-S). How you find the energy to attend to it all after officiating on the day(s) - and then have to go to work - defies belief. :o

Tables all checked and prepared last night for the competitions this weekend, many thanks to Alan Brackenridge, Nigel Senior and Colleen for their assistance. 8-)
Hopefully we will find some "willing volunteers" to help take all of the tables down and load them into the van after the matches finish tomorrow evening.... many hands make light work! :D

Congratulations to Brighton Ladies who retained their One Day Inter League title today at the Hurst Club winning the competition for the 4th year running and the 15th time overall. :o 8-) Brighton won all 3 of their matches to finish on 21 points which was 6 points clear of nearest rivals Redhill who were runners-up for the 3rd time in 4 years, Horsham Ladies returned to the competition for the first time for several years and finished in third place, just ahead of Mid-Sussex. Jean Brackenridge (Brighton) continued her recent run of good form winning all 6 of her games and hitting the highest score of the day (11,290) with Denise Wills (Redhill) finishing second in the averages just ahead of Sheena Wood who also won 5 of her 6 matches. It was lovely to see some new Ladies there for the competition and there were plenty of exciting matches during the day with the player averages slightly more than 20% up on 2012. ;D Many thanks to the Hurst Club for their hospitality on the day, to Colin Robbins who somehow managed to combine keeping us all well fed and winning the Mid-Sussex Masters Competition at the same time.... :o .... and to Nigel Senior, Alan Brackenridge and Colleen for helping to prepare the tables this time. We also managed to raise another £100 plus in the Raffle which was well run by Colleen, so many thanks to her and all of the players for their generosity on what proved to be another very enjoyable day. :-* All of the results, tables and averages are now on the Sussex Website.... www.sussexbarbilliards.com/Sussex/1%20day%20cups/2013/Ladies%202013.htm

An excellent day which ran like clockwork thanks to Dave and Colleen. Congrats to habitual winners Brighton, and to Redhill the runners-up. Great to see Horsham once more in the arena after an absence of fifteen years, and also Mid Sussex keeping going despite their former captain jumping ship. ;) :P ;D Nice of Hayley to help Horsham out at short notice when Sam was unable to play. Once more Dave is 100% efficient in getting all the results up so quickly on the Sussex website. Brilliant food as ever from Colin. The biggie tomorrow.......... I have some snaps of the day, and apologies for the rather poor picture quality: 1. The Chunky monkey prepares for the main work of the day ! 2. Redhill ladies too shy to have their picture taken - apart of course from Denise ! 3. Return of the prodigals from Horsham.

Don't know what you mean, his main work of the day was doing what he does best. Looking after the ladies, keeping the alcohol flowing (for us) and driving us too and from the Hurst club :-) x
