well done to Paul and Neil in making the final of the over 50s, they then went onto play the final which resulted in a 2-0 win for Paul. An interesting evening with the table making you think. Game 1 Colin v Neil Colin opened with not a lot Neil followed suit, We both spent the 1st seven minutes getting 500 each and "thinking" hard ;D Neil got going and made a nice 5k and tuck to win by about 4 k Game 2 Neil opened with 2.5k Colin replied with 1k followed by 2k then Neil got 3.5k to take the game and match 2-0 Well done to Neil who easily deserved the win Game 3 Stewart opened with a respectable break but lost it missing a ball behind the right 30, Paul got the break back quickly and made a good 4k break follow by another 3k and tuck Game 4 Paul opened with a nice break and kept extending his lead, a well earned win 2-0 Game 5 Paul opened with 5k Neil replied with 2k another 3k from paul gave Neil no chance to recover Game 6 Neil opened with 2k Paul replied with 4k and kept extending his lead till the bar 2-0 Well done to Over 50's Winner Paul Barnett who handled an awkward Loco top with good control other items of interest tonight 4 policemen arrived during game 3 and looked around until Shift change time came, we all hoped they might arrest a couple of the locals (and the table) but it was not to be :'( Plenty of dogs on show tonight as well ::) regs cs

Both of these matches were played tonight.... The Captain's Cup and Mixed Doubles Finals have both now been booked for Monday 29th April... .... starting with the Captains Cup.... ;) 7.30pm Captains Cup - Jim Millward v Dave Ingram @ Dun Horse in Mannings Heath Jim won the toss and put me in.... and I pegged my opening 2.7k with a poor split shot.... Jim got the break back but was caught out by the right hand roll and was off early.... I then made an "exploring" break of just over 6k using most of the holes on the table but leaving Jim only enough time to get about 3k back. Jim made a good start and didn't look like missing until he left the one up short on about 3.8k.... I got the break back and touched on 8k to take the win. :D Many thanks to Nigel and Bill for scoring the games for us at the pub.... also to Sparky who had kindly gone in last week to check the table. 8-) We then all moved a few miles up the road to play the next match.... 9.00pm Mixed Doubles - Ros Appleby & Nigel Senior v Colleen Park & Dave Ingram @ Stout House in Horsham Colleen & I won the toss and asked Ros & Nigel to go first.... Ros was caught out early by the uphill nature of the table, Colleen got the break back and got up to about 1k before coming off.... I got the break back and managed to leave both balls up on the break shot.... Nigel got the break back and missed his first split after leaving the red ball much shorter than he wanted to.... we all then had a few goes each adding some small scores before I got the break back and touched on 4k plus to take the first leg. Colleen was off early in the second leg and we all had a go without getting the break back.... Ros played some good shots to clear all of the balls but one which was left in a really awkward position behind one of the pegs and she lost her score going off the side cushion... I managed to just clip it up the table and then got the break back to run in 7k plus to take the win, with Ros unfortunately taking the black peg later in the game trying to touch in the red ball into the 200 hole that Nigel had (temptingly) left right on the edge. Final scores were... Ros & Nigel v Colleen & Dave 1,870* - 6,650 250 - 8,470* Many thanks to Trevor for scoring these games for us, with Jim, Heather and Bill all offering support during the games. Very enjoyable evening in excellent company. ;D
