Horse & Groom 1-4 Romans
P.Bramhall 1540 - 11,450 M.Knight** **M.Buckle 210 - 3770 T.Hunt G.Walsh 890 - 4810 R.Pettiford** **P.Hennessey 1620 - 220 R.McGuiness J.Clark b/p - 870 T.Lowry**
Not sure where the result or the performance came from, but it did ;D 8-) On fire the first three games, a slight lull and then a kindly home player with a black peg gave us a comprehensive win :) Enjoyable evening with friendly people
Paul has said that there is no way that they will be able to get a side for the outstanding game at the Romans, so I guess that is a 5-0 win - the Romans were very keen to play but we know that the guys have been struggling to get a full team out so that is a reluctant acceptance on our part :'(

Good win for Atlas A at the Black Horse. It was 3-1 to the Atlas when I left. Interesting third game between Nigel and Sheena. I'll let others put the numbers into the report.

Great night down the Atlas once again, I hope this rather in-depth report does it justice.
Atlas C vs Duke Of Wellington B
Glenn Chubb 15,960 - 870 Nick Simmonds Nick came off early, on my second attempted I~ managed to get the balls back to run in a steady (some would say smooth!) 8.5k. I was a bit mystified as to how I came off, but I managed to get the balls back again and motor a little to end up with a little under 16k. Seems I've learned to walk a bit, with a little more help from a certain wonderful friend I'm sure it won't be long before I'm running full steam. 1-0 to the Atlas
Steve Mariner 18,870 - 2,360 Mark Senior Mark came off early and when Steve got the break back, there were 18 and a half minutes left, so Steve got a few thousand under his belt and then purposefully set after a big score. He got up to 18,480 with a tad over 4 minutes to go when a completely miss hit ended his break. Steve said afterward he was aware from 10k on his cue needed some chalk, turned out he was right, but there was none on the table! It was the kind of miss-cue that could easily have missed the ball all together. It was a great shame as I'm positive he could have got nicely past his previous high break of the season (22k) but none the less it was still superb to watch. 2-0 to the Atlas.
Geoff Jukes 480 - 6,130 Gary Frizzell I think Geoff will be the first person to put his hand up and say he's having a little bit of a nightmare patch at the moment. After Gary came off with about 2k, Geoff got the break back but didn't look comfortable at all, coming off early. After some more playing around, Geoff later black pegged what little score he had giving Gary and comfortable win. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Geoff starts playing to his extremely high standard again. That said nothing can be taken away from Gary who played well, some of his shots around the back of the table in some tough positions were very impressive so he fully deserved his win. 2-1 to the Atlas.
Grant Tully 13,290 - 830 Kim Hurley This was a interesting match to score as all I could hear was Jim talking about how he "felt" that the Champions League final would be an all German affair this year! But after Kim came off early, Grant I believe racked up a couple of grand before coming off. When he got the break back the second time, in true Tully fashion he got a nice (mainly!) 10k break before touching up to secure us the win on the night. 3-1 to the Atlas.
Jim Millward 16,890 - 2,890 Tim Scotney Tim came off fairly early and Jim got the balls back and set about playing through the beer barrier and was going very well up until about 15k, where he had to endure me and Steve taking the micky out of his customary standing up in between every other shot and quickly straightening out his back! Jim unfortunately broke down around now (I believe leaving the one up short) which was a shame as he would have passed 20k fairly comfortably. Still a superb performance though to end the night 4-1 to the Atlas. but we're not done yet as there is still one more vital and important game to report on.....
Highest Break Playing With The Wrong End Of Your Cue Glenn Chubb 930, Matt Adatepe 600(ish), Steve Mariner 1,230, Jim Millward 700ish, Sue Mariner confused, Grant Tully useless In a straight vote between this fine version of our game and "blue tac tip replacement", the "I want to play backwards" squad won out, and we all set about trying to get the highest break playing with your cue the wrong way round! Matt looked fairly dangerous in the opening stages, and was learning (unlike Jim) not to try and put any side on the cue ball. But it was me that set the standard at about 8 minutes into the game with an excellent 930, the general consensus also being that maybe I should adopt this play style in regular matches! However unfortunately for me, Mr Mariner came in at the death to get an extremely lucky (and it wouldn't surprise me miss-counted) break at the end to steal my thunder and resign me to the runner-up position.
Overall and excellent and fun evening at the Atlas with a great bunch of lads as opponents. This will be my last home game this year, so I will take this time to thank Matt and all the staff at the Atlas for being such wonderful hosts this year, with excellent food always served, and (mostly) excellent background music being played. I hope you will invite us back to play next season as I've had a great time, and I'm sure I speak for all my team mates when I say that.
Speak to you all soon.

I can think of quite a few people who thought Geoff was playing rather well when he reached the semi-final of the Surrey Open a couple of weeks ago..... ::) ;D Congratulations to "Mr Smooth" on another good performance........ sure you will be jogging soon! :D
