The final games of this season to be played tonight and still plenty at stake for several of the teams. 8-)
Here is a brief preview of the games....
Montreal v Duke of Wellington A Both of these teams have finished bottom of their respective divisions although the Premier visitors have found a bit of form lately winning their last 2 games, however the Montreal are never easy to beat on their own table and will have all 5 breaks. Prediction - 3-2 either way! ::)
West Hill A v Horse & Groom D The visitors have to win this match to have a chance of finishing as Premier runners-up but will need their mountaineering equipment to tackle the foothills of the "Uphill". ;D Prediction - 3-2 away win.
Atlas C v Atlas A The Atlas C need to win to have a chance of finishing as Premier Runners-Up.... the visiting Atlas A Team have to win if they are to win Division 1.... so all to play for here. With all 5 breaks the visitors will have a chance of causing an upset... Prediction - 3-2 home win.
Duke of Wellington B v Black Horse Rottingdean Nothing for either of these teams to play for with the home team safe in 3rd place in Division 1 and the visitors already having won the Premier Division. Prediction - 4-1 away win.
Romans v West Hill B The Romans currently lead Division 2 and know that a win against the bottom team will secure the Division 2 title this year.... Prediction - a low scoring match in which the table will beat 9 of the players and the 10th one will enjoy a "silent" celebration in a 4-1 home win. :P ;D
Albion A v Branch A win for the Albion A would seal the Division 1 title.... a win for the Branch would give them a chance of winning Division 2 and they have 5 breaks to try to do that. Prediction - another quiet night with the younger Stoners giving the older Stoners a tough match but the home team coming out on top in a 4-1 win.
The Horse & Groom A have a bye and finish 3rd in Division 2.

One of your better efforts Mr Warrior Sir ;)
Montreal v Duke of Wellington A - The Mont happier back in Brighton as opposed to Southwick, the Wellie containing a number of poor 'comedians', but not Mal as he is one of our doubles opponents on Thursday, he is a very nice man - 2-3
West Hill A v Horse & Groom D - Could be the final game for a couple of Horse & Groom players, but the home table is a big advantage - 3-2
Atlas C v Atlas A - Reverse match was 3-2, the 'Cs' will be too strong again - 4-1
Duke of Wellington B v Black Horse - Not sure Mr Senior (note I am being nice again as he is our other doubles opponent on Thursday) will have recovered from his all day efforts on Sunday so he might be saving himself for tomorrow. Mind you the other Horse players aren't bad :) - 1-4
Albion A v Branch - Will be a very quiet evening here ::) ::) - I've got the Halls as bankers and then Mr Brackenridge so I go 3-2, an away win will mean a call to the British Horseracing Authority's Integrity department regarding irregular betting patterns ;D
Romans v West Hill B - "Silent" (Silence) is golden ;) - 3-2

Now they we have done the essential bit of updating the tables and results, let's look at the interesting Tipsters Challenge that took place this week as well.... 8-) Starting with myself..... Montreal 2 Duke of Wellington A 3Both of these teams have finished bottom of their respective divisions although the Premier visitors have found a bit of form lately winning their last 2 games, however the Montreal are never easy to beat on their own table and will have all 5 breaks. Prediction - 3-2 either way! ::) I was correct to predict a 3-2 win, but only 1 point for me here as I didn't say who would win. ::) West Hill A 2 Horse & Groom D 3The visitors have to win this match to have a chance of finishing as Premier runners-up but will need their mountaineering equipment to tackle the foothills of the "Uphill". ;D Prediction - 3-2 away win. Spot on for 2 points here. ;D Atlas C 3 Atlas A 2The Atlas C need to win to have a chance of finishing as Premier Runners-Up.... the visiting Atlas A Team have to win if they are to win Division 1.... so all to play for here. With all 5 breaks the visitors will have a chance of causing an upset... Prediction - 3-2 home win. Some terrific games in this match.... and another 2 points for me for the correct result. 8-) Duke of Wellington B 0 Black Horse Rottingdean 5Nothing for either of these teams to play for with the home team safe in 3rd place in Division 1 and the visitors already having won the Premier Division. Prediction - 4-1 away win. Just the one point here for predicting the away win. ;) Romans 2 West Hill B 3The Romans currently lead Division 2 and know that a win against the bottom team will secure the Division 2 title this year.... Prediction - a low scoring match in which the table will beat 9 of the players and the 10th one will enjoy a "silent" celebration in a 4-1 home win. :P ;D No points for the result for me.... but a bonus point for the "low-scoring" prediction for 9 of the 10 players and another bonus point for the deliberate attempt by "Silent" to scupper my chances of another bonus point by going for a 0-0 draw in the last game! :P ;D Albion A 4 Branch 1A win for the Albion A would seal the Division 1 title.... a win for the Branch would give them a chance of winning Division 2 and they have 5 breaks to try to do that. Prediction - another quiet night with the younger Stoners giving the older Stoners a tough match but the home team coming out on top in a 4-1 win. Spot on for 2 points for the correct result and score.... and I'm giving myself another bonus point for predicting that the older Stoners would play the younger Stoners as well. :D I make that a total of 11 points for me.... ;D ;D ;D

Now to my gallant opponent.... One of your better efforts Mr Warrior Sir ;) Oh well, I suppose I should be "nice" and give you a bonus point to start for creeping..... ::) ;D Montreal 2 Duke of Wellington A 3 - The Mont happier back in Brighton as opposed to Southwick, the Wellie containing a number of poor 'comedians', but not Mal as he is one of our doubles opponents on Thursday, he is a very nice man - 2-3 2 points for the result plus a bonus point for correctly saying that the Mont were much happier to be back in Brighton.... :D .... I would have given you another bonus for the "comedians" comment but unfortunately your attempt to grovel about Mal would have lost you that point anyway! :P ;D West Hill A 2 Horse & Groom D 3 - Could be the final game for a couple of Horse & Groom players, but the home table is a big advantage - 3-2 No points here I am afraid.... :'( Atlas C 3 Atlas A 2 - Reverse match was 3-2, the 'Cs' will be too strong again - 4-1 Just one point for predicting the home win. ;) Duke of Wellington B 0 Black Horse 5 - Not sure Mr Senior (note I am being nice again as he is our other doubles opponent on Thursday) will have recovered from his all day efforts on Sunday so he might be saving himself for tomorrow. Mind you the other Horse players aren't bad :) - 1-4 One point for predicting the away win, plus a (hardly earned) bonus point for stating the obvious that the other Horse players "aren't bad" when they have won the Premier Division.... ::) .... as there was a "Mr Senior" on both teams I cannot give another bonus point for that and am tempted to deduct a point for your attempt to be nice as he is one of your opponents tonight in the Worthing Doubles Final. :o Albion A 4 Branch 1 - Will be a very quiet evening here ::) ::) - I've got the Halls as bankers and then Mr Brackenridge so I go 3-2, an away win will mean a call to the British Horseracing Authority's Integrity department regarding irregular betting patterns ;D 1 point for the home win plus bonus points for the wins by Sandra and Alan.... minus 1 point for the loss by Chunky Monkey.... plus 1 point for the betting pattern humour at the end. 8-) Romans 2 West Hill B 3 - "Silent" (Silence) is golden ;) - 3-2 No points here for the result.... just a bonus point for the wishful thinking for the rest of us...!! :o ;D ;D ;D I make that a total of 10 points.... meaning that I win the Tipsters Challenger by 1 point!! ;D ;D ;D So, what could me reward be for my victory.... I saw this message on the post by Silent earlier.... Thanks to all our opponents for some enjoyable evenings, to Nige for organising all the fixtures and of course not forgetting my very dear friend, Mr David Ingram for keeping us all up to date and 'entertained' with the results and stats, your prize is a night with the Romans table ;) ::) :-X ;D :-* .... given an appropriate sized sledgehammer and firelighters I am sure that I would not need a whole night.... perhaps no more than a few minutes with the Romans table and I doubt that my efforts would make it play any worse than usual.... :o ;D ;D ;D

I have to say you were very generous in your awarding of points to your opponent and to come away with a one point defeat feels like a moral victory - sounds like the typical rubbish spouted by defeated football managers ;D ::)

I have to say you were very generous in your awarding of points to your opponent and to come away with a one point defeat feels like a moral victory - sounds like the typical rubbish spouted by defeated football managers ;D ::) Matthew, as always you are as gracious in defeat as you are in victory.... especially as I was clearly just feeling sorry for you and took into consideration that you had probably had enough punishment with the (mis)fortune of playing and gaining yet another win (despite your efforts to draw... ::)) on the best table in Southwick last night.... ;D ;D I shall look forward to another fun and banter-filled evening at the Worthing Finals tonight.... perhaps we should do a Tipsters for that as well.... ::) 8-) ;D
