This should be on a separate Tipsters thread, surely ? Otherwise to the uninitiated it looks like the event has already taken place with those results. :-/ I agree.... new thread started for the Tipsters, perhaps Gary & Tommo could remove their posts and I will then take this one off here as well? ;)

Congrats to all the winners tonight. Special mentions to Matt K for winning 2 of the 3 finals he played in. Mert for wining his 2 finals and must now be the top ranking Turkish player in the world. And finally, Jim for winning the Brighton Doubles on his own. ;)

Thank you for all the work you've done this year Matt as Competition Secutary (to say nothing of 2 out of 3 ain't bad). It was an excellent evening, and very well attended I may add.
Needless to say well done to all the winners, but for everyone who got to the final as well and took part.
I hope you continue the role next year Matt :D
One last thing I must say, and that's to my partner Jim, you Sir are a gent and a hero. Thank you for being my partner this year my friend, and I look forward to deffending out title next year.

Thanks for your words Glenn, must say the support from the Atlas guys for both players in the Plate final was greatly received

Just a couple of reports:-
Lower Division Singles - Darren was very unfortunate to lose. After he got rid of his nerves in the first game, he won pretty comfortably in the second with his break, playing particularly well at the end of the table. The third game he should certainly have won, getting the break back 3 times and missing the red each time, he said he was really feeling the nerves towards the end which was no surprise in his first final. Right as the bar dropped I got the break back and even then messed it up with missing the right hand 50. Getting that on the next shot left me with the 200 to win, then realising that there were no other games and everyone was watching, rolled it in without touching the sides ;) Lucky and relieved it was the only good shot I had played for 36 minutes ::)
Lower Division Doubles - A new partnership for this year in me and Ross, playing a couple of guys I have played with and against for years in the family Reay. Ross started off with a nice break and we maintained the lead he had got us for half the leg until Adam got the break back, he was going very well until hitting a split a bit hard and it bounced out the hole and the peg went down. I got the break back next shot and it almost looked as though I could play the game as we cleaned up with a 4.5k break, it was a real struggle to get the 50/100 split though. Phil broke off in leg 2, think it is fair to say he did not play at his best on the night and was off very early. It was up the end of the table for the rest of the leg until I got the break back near the end but was a bit indecisive with one particular shot and left the Reays another chance, but they couldn't finish it off. Up stepped Ross and kept his cool knocking in all the remaining balls after the bar had gone and then rolling the ball into the 100 slowly and perfectly, well done partner :) 8-)
Plate - Mert and I have had quite a few games at the Atlas and they have always proved pretty even. I must have lost about 6k in the first game as Mert struggled to even get the break, but then I knocked in 3k towards the end to take an early advantage. There was an outrageous fluke at one point from me with plenty of side and spin the balls ended up in the 200 and the 100 to get the break back ::) In Mert's break game he was still struggling but managed to stay in front in a low scoring leg, although I had plenty of chances to seal it, to take us to a decider. Mert took control from the outset knocking in a fine 5k break, with a peg wobble at one point :o and I never got going, thus giving him a deserved 2-1 win. Excellent support for both players from Steve, Grant and Jim in particular, thanks guys

Well done to the all the winners on a great evening of billiards , Kev certainly got on with the table better than the rest of us in our doubles with us 2 nice winning breaks , I did manage to get the break back with a couple of minutes to get 3k even a couple of splits :). Big thanks to Matt taking over mid season and sorting everything and 2 out of 3 titles. Had Matt won 3 he would surely have been 1st player to win 3 and not be able to to defend any of them.
