A good idea by Gary to give us all a chance to have a bit of fun before the evening..... worthy of a separate thread to keep the actual Finals thread clear for the results and reports on the night. 8-) Here are Gary's predictions.... Schedule is as follows:- 8.00pm Table 1 - Lower Division Singles - M.Knight 2 v 0 D.Robins 8.00pm Table 2 - Mixed Doubles - Z.Stoner/K.Stoner 0 v 2 S.Hall/K.Hall8.00pm Table 3 - Over 55s - C.Tupper 2 v 0 M.Pope 9.00pm Table 1 - Licensees - M.Adatepe 2 v 0 A.Graham 9.00pm Table 2 - Open Doubles - D.Ingram/B.Kerr 1 v 2 G.Chubb/J.Millward9.00pm Table 3 - Lower Division Doubles - A.Reay/P.Reay 1 v 2 M.Knight/R.Pettiford10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 2 v 1 C.Tupper 10.00pm Table 2 - Mens Plate - M.Adatepe 2 v 1 M.Knight 10.00pm Table 3 - Ladies Singles - S.Hall 1 v 2 B.StonerLet's do predictions to make it interesting.

And here are my thoughts on the evening....
8.00pm Table 1 - Lower Division Singles - M.Knight 2 v 0 D.Robins The Competition Secretary has a busy night ahead of him arranging everything and playing in 3 different finals as well.... :o .... no comments about "dodgy draws" please.... :-X .... but he is on home territory tonight even if he hasn't got the "benefit" of playing on the best table in Southwick and I expect he will make a good start to his evening. :D
8.00pm Table 2 - Mixed Doubles - Z.Stoner/K.Stoner 0 v 2 S.Hall/K.Hall Experience to count here I feel, but a great achievement for Zoe (with a "little (legs)" bit of help from her dad) to reach the final in her first season of playing. 8-)
8.00pm Table 3 - Over 55s - C.Tupper 2 v 1 M.Pope Plenty of experience for both players here with Chris just getting the better thanks to some "Tupper-Time" in the decider. ;)
9.00pm Table 1 - Licensees - M.Adatepe 2 v 0 A.Graham Hard to see any other result than a win for the Turkish Number One. :D
9.00pm Table 2 - Open Doubles - D.Ingram/B.Kerr 2 v 1 G.Chubb/J.Millward Possibly one of the most even of all of tonights games with the defending champions looking to hold on to their title for a further year.... expect some tricks from the challengers with rumours of a new T-Shirt making a debut with the Chubbster.... ::)
9.00pm Table 3 - Lower Division Doubles - A.Reay/P.Reay 0 v 2 M.Knight/R.Pettiford The Competition Secretary wraps up his second title of the night. 8-)
10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 2 v 0 C.Tupper After the disppointment of just missing out on the title last year, I expect that Nigel will be firing on all cylinders tonight. 8-)
10.00pm Table 2 - Mens Plate - M.Adatepe 2 v 1 M.Knight Another close match to call and much will depend on how Mert gets on with the table but I think he will just edge this one to deprive "Silent" of the hat-trick..... :-/
10.00pm Table 3 - Ladies Singles - S.Hall 1 v 2 B.Stoner Both ladies on good form lately with Bella perhaps just having the edge.... :-/

This post was on another thread.... But remember this. One day, you will feel the wrath of my cue. And when that day comes, you will bow down before my feet and hail the Chubbster for the saviour he is….. oh yes you will. You mark my words. And it’s starts with the Warrior and Mr Kerr. For in one week from today, I will step up to the plate in our epic final, call the coin toss, win that and put our team on first. I shall then take a deep breath, shut my eyes and focus like never before, pick up my cue, put some chalk on, and then loudly, proudly and triumphantly turn to my partner and say…… “Go get them Jim” Then and only then will you feel the full power of the Chubbster. I think that Chubbster is trying to say that he and Jim (well, perhaps I should say "JUST Jim" from reading the post! ;D) are going to win the doubles next Wednesday.... ::) It's hard to tell really as it seems that Chubbster usually closes his eyes when he plays.... so I am slightly unsure how he even finds his cue to pick up.... or knows that he has won the toss to start with.... :o :P ;D ;D ;D Mr Kerr and I look forward to the challenge next Wednesday.... and I am sure there will be some good verbal sparring in the meantime. 8-)

No verbal sparring Warrior, after the above quote, It's now an all out trash talking War..... I would like to point you in teh direction of the following pages..... www.sussexbarbilliards.com/Sussex/20Ks/Exclusive%2020K%20Club.htmTake a good read of that and note number 19 on the list. See unlike some people, my brillience is know, I don't need to add it to the tag line in my signature to remind people ;D :o 8-) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :-/ :-X :-[ :o ;D ;D Now I would like to point you in the direction of this page..... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_billiardsAn excellent site which lists all World Championship Winners. One of those indioviduals has won 4 of them, and he's on my side..... remember that. So you can make all the jokes about eye shutting you want, at the end of the day Bar Billiards is all about how good your partner is lol I would not swap mine for the world. Fortunatly though, I'm giving him the night off. He simply won;t be needed ;D ;D ;D

No verbal sparring Warrior, after the above quote, It's now an all out trash talking War..... Fantastic.... exactly what this thread was designed for! ;D ;D ;D Yes, it's always good to look back at "historic" events in the game.... I would like to point you in teh direction of the following pages..... www.sussexbarbilliards.com/Sussex/20Ks/Exclusive%2020K%20Club.htmTake a good read of that and note number 19 on the list. See unlike some people, my brillience is know, I don't need to add it to the tag line in my signature to remind people ;D :o 8-) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :-/ :-X :-[ :o ;D ;D .... and it certainly a pleasure for me to look at that link and see the name at number 25 on the list. 8-) I'm happy to leave my score on my tag line as it reminds me of the target that I want to beat in the future, but I do understand that we all do not strive to achieve the same things. Obviously, if the order of that list were to be based in descending order of the actual score made.... then number 25 would really be number 3.... ;D .... while number 19 would only move up to number 12! :P ;D Clearly though the record of your partner is very impressive and his name features very strongly in the history of the game as one of the greatest players to have played Bar Billiards.... four world titles tells its own story and you are very fortunate to have him as your partner. :D However, I do enjoy a good challenge and have not got a bad record against your partner in competitions, as is shown through the following links..... www.sussexbarbilliards.com/Sussex/Ind%20comps/Captains%20Cup%202012-13.htmMy fourth Sussex Captains Cup win (a few weeks ago).... admittedly not as impressive as 4 World Titles!! ::) ;D www.sussexbarbilliards.com/Sussex/1%20day%20cups/2010/Division%201%202010.htmA win on aggregate for me in the One Day Inter League Competition in 2010.... 15,710 plays 8,630. ;D www.aebba.org.uk/results/2009/Grand_Prix.htmAnd another aggregate win in the AEBBA Grand Prix in 2009.... 12,410 plays 6,660. :D Of course, Chubbster and I have only had the pleasure of playing each other once.... ;D Dave Ingram 11,590* - 3,530 Glenn Chubb Chubbster quick to volunteer to play this game but then had to wait quite a while for his first shot until I touched on 10k. ;D 2-0 .... maybe next time I will not be kind enough to touch up at all and give him a go, but I was feeling in a good mood and his girlfriend had come along to watch him play so I thought it would have been unkind not to let him have a shot, although his partner (and team captain!) was "actively encouraging" me to go for a table play out...!! :o :o ;D I look forward to watching Chubbster return the compliment to me (and Bill) next week.... So you can make all the jokes about eye shutting you want, at the end of the day Bar Billiards is all about how good your partner is lol I would not swap mine for the world. Fortunatly though, I'm giving him the night off. He simply won;t be needed ;D ;D ;D .... I'm sure that Jim and I will enjoy a drink at the bar together while he is on the table, perhaps we will just about manage a swift half in that time!! :-/ :P ;D ;D

Ok I will join in the fun :D ....
8.00pm Table 1 - Lower Division Singles - M.Knight 2 v 0 D.Robins Repeat of last years final and I am going for the same result
8.00pm Table 2 - Mixed Doubles - Z.Stoner/K.Stoner 0 v 2 S.Hall/K.Hall I think it may a match too far for the Stoners and I expect the 2011 champs to win title number 2.
8.00pm Table 3 - Over 55s - C.Tupper 2 v 0 M.Pope Tupper to go one better than last year
9.00pm Table 1 - Licensees - M.Adatepe 2 v 0 A.Graham I expect Mert to win this one.
9.00pm Table 2 - Open Doubles - D.Ingram/B.Kerr 1 v 2 G.Chubb/J.Millward Tough one to call, will be interesting to see who takes the breaks, but I believe in you Chubbster!
9.00pm Table 3 - Lower Division Doubles - A.Reay/P.Reay 1 v 2 M.Knight/R.Pettiford I fancy the Reay's to take a game, but think Matt will win this for the 2nd time with his new partner Ross
10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 0 v 2 C.Tupper Well i never tip myself do I?
10.00pm Table 2 - Mens Plate - M.Adatepe 1 v 2 M.Knight Well if Matt's stamina doesn't let him down I think he will get through this 2-1.
10.00pm Table 3 - Ladies Singles - S.Hall 2 v 1 B.Stoner Bella going for a hat trick of titles and 5th overall, but I think it is about time Sandra won this one so I will go for her to win 2-1

You see Glenn.... your fan club will be there after all! Hope Nigel knows the words that he is meant to chant for you.... ::) “Lets Go Chubbster, Lets Go Chubbster” “You are Awesome, You Are Awesome” .... and wears the "Chubbster Rick-Rolls my world" t-shirt, will have to make sure that Colleen brings her camera just in case he does! 8-) ;D 10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 0 v 2 C.Tupper Well i never tip myself do I? Hmmmm.... given your good record of predictions in the Open Tipsters Competition here on the Forum perhaps I should take this post more seriously and put a few pounds on Tupps at the bookies before the match? :-/

Some interesting thoughts. Misguided certainly, but interesting none the less. Anyway, ask and you shall receive, here are my full tips.... 8.00pm Table 1 - Lower Division Singles - M.Knight 2 v 0 D.Robins I'm going for Matt who has been playing excellent recently. 8.00pm Table 2 - Mixed Doubles - Z.Stoner/K.Stoner 1 v 2 S.Hall/K.Hall Normally I would say the Stoners if it was after 9pm, but if Kev's not had tooo much to drink I feel they will take this match. 8.00pm Table 3 - Over 55s - C.Tupper 2 v 0 M.Pope Don't let me down Brighton Captain (and don't forget I exist either!) 9.00pm Table 1 - Licensees - M.Adatepe 2 v 0 A.Graham Matts a player who can be as good as he decides to be, and I fancy he will take this match. 9.00pm Table 2 - Open Doubles - D.Ingram/B.Kerr 0 v 7 G.Chubb/J.Millward Formalities I assure you. 9.00pm Table 3 - Lower Division Doubles - A.Reay/P.Reay 1 v 2 M.Knight/R.Pettiford For some reason I fancy Matt again, should be a great game though. 10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 2 v 1 C.Tupper Such a tough one to call, and my love for both these guys is huge, but I'll go with Nigel.... just.... 10.00pm Table 2 - Mens Plate - M.Adatepe 1 v 2 M.Knight Could be the closet game of the night. I'm gonna back Matt Knight to win all three as he will be well and truly in the groove now (or so annoyed t not wining) 10.00pm Table 3 - Ladies Singles - S.Hall v B.Stoner Sandra, because she beat me without breaking sweat at the weekend. Now a couple of other things I must address.... I have to give you that one Warrior, your right we don't always strive for the same things. What with my highest break being over 25k (in practice mind you, but scored by feedthegoat in case you don't believe me) obviously I'm aiming much higher than you are. But then again we all have our limits, and you shouldn't feel ashamed that yours are much lower than mine. Knowing your limits makes the most of what you have, and some of us just have more I guess! ;D ;D ;D ;D Could not agree with you more, I would take a world title over a captain cup any day. But I'm glad you attend yet ANOTHER tournament that I can't play in (further proving the conspiracy is now much larger than I originally thought). I'm surprised you have time my friend what with the 4 other leagues you already play in. Can't help but wonder how good I would be if I played that many times a week! :D ;D ::) :P :-X ;) :) ;D ;D But wait, maybe we can get a rough idea of how good I would be if I played just half the time you did my friend. I believe the first time I played regularly in just 2 leagues a week was back in 2005. Now let me think, what can i remember about that year.............. (Chubbster turns his head and ponders) Oh that's right........ www.sussexbarbilliards.com/Sussex/Sussex%20Open/2005/Scores.htmThat coupled with a second Semi Final at the Portsmouth Open allowed me to qualify for this... www.aebba.org.uk/2005_grand_prix_final_positions.htmOf which I again lost in the semi final to the outstanding Katie, but none the less 3 semis in a year at national competitions..... not a bad record if I put some effort in ;D :o ::) :P Ah what an epic night that was, and yes you got the better of my after I volunteered to play you against the break. But as you say you were kind enough to touch up and let me have a go with my on-looking girlfriend. Actually she was very pleased with me that night. See she had never met you all before, and being the charitable person she is, she likes it when people support local charities with good causes. Therefor she was delighted to see that ever though I can't afford a direct debt every month like i use too, I still find time each week to support "Help The Aged Over 55's" by giving them a game every so often, although like me she found it baffling that despite all this, you still find time to organize your own tournaments of which I'm not allowed to enter due age discrimination ;D ;D ;D ;D To address another couple of points made by others... I'm sorry to Chunky, sorry to see that you are still suffering hangover effects from the weekend. I'm sure your head will clear soon so you'll start thinking straight again ;D :D 8-) ::) :P ;D ;D As do I believe in you Nigel. As you know I'm someone who's "Got It Going On!" and therefor I know you will be right behind me cheering me. As someone who DOESN'T sit at home dreaming up ways to further make me a clown at every chance possible, my love for you knows no boundary's. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I think it's time for a Brighton Finals Night Poster, what does everyone think?

Right here are my predictions.
8.00pm Table 1 - Lower Division Singles - M.Knight 2 v D.Robins 0 Matt should get his evening off to a good start. 8.00pm Table 2 - Mixed Doubles - Z.Stoner/K.Stoner 2 v S.Hall/K.Hall 0 Heres hoping i can take 2 little legs. 8.00pm Table 3 - Over 55s - C.Tupper 2 v M.Pope 0 Mr.Tupps to take the senior title.
9.00pm Table 1 - Licensees - M.Adatepe 2 v A.Graham 0 Mert should prove to strong for Alan. 9.00pm Table 2 - Open Doubles - D.Ingram/B.Kerr 2 v G.Chubb/J.Millward 1 Will be a good close game but i think Bill will come good in the decider. 9.00pm Table 3 - Lower Division Doubles - A.Reay/P.Reay 1 v M.Knight/R.Pettiford 2 Definetly be a noisy affair but the Silent one just holding on.
10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 2 v C.Tupper 0 Tupps has been playing well lately but I think Nigel will win this one. 10.00pm Table 2 - Mens Plate - M.Adatepe 1 v M.Knight 2 A weary Matt gaining his hattrick of titles 10.00pm Table 3 - Ladies Singles - S.Hall 1 v B.Stoner 2 Well I can't go against the boss can I ;)

I'm surprised you have time my friend what with the 4 other leagues you already play in. I couldn't agree more about the World Title being far harder to win than the Sussex Captains Cup.... but it doesn't mean that I am not proud of winning that competition, especially against a 4 times world champion who only entered the competition to stop me winning it to start with!! ;D ;D ;D Yes, there are plenty of other tournaments that I play in.... you forgot the Mixed Doubles (no, Jim couldn't partner you in that one.... ::)) as well as the Over 50's.... but it is ONLY 3 Leagues that I play in regularly, although I am a reserve in Horsham League occasionally and enjoy going to new venues in that League. 8-)

Pictures of Bill are hard to find, but there are plenty of shots of Jim around holding the world championship trophy on many seperate occasions :) You must include one of those then, after all it is a doubles match we are playing and I would be honoured to be included in a picture with the 4-times champ. 8-) Sadly, Bill will just have to remain as a "rock", as he has proved to be on so many occasions in our doubles matches in the last couple of years.... solid and steady is what I mean here, before anybody gets the wrong idea! ;D I have decided that as Chubbster clearly is hurt that I insulted him in my previous posts.... So many bad insults in so many posts! ... I will obviously have to stop being so horrible to him and will therefore refrain from any further mocking comments about him.... :o .... until next Wednesday evening of course, at which time the gloves will be off and anything goes! 8-) In the meantime, I shall look forward to reading his posts as they always prove both informative and interesting. :D

Boring! I was just warming up. What about the other posters, the tshirts, the live TV debate? I've not even got another Rick Roll in yet!
You Warrior as well as the onlookkers can be rest assured that I am far from insulted. However I think it's best that I now get my head down and concentrate of being calm and passive before the big match. My coach just hates it when I start getting all cocky and up my own backside. Heaven knows what he's gonna think when he sees the poster!
Anyway, until next wednesday everyone, and good luck to all those involved. Should be a superb evening, and I hope mine and the Warriors fun and games inspires a few onlookers to come and take a peek lol Either way am really looking forward to it. :)

The latest fad, inspired by Dame Helen Mirren, is going to be "DameDrumRolling". With the help of the dear lady I have been working on this new app: you've just been DameRolled. :D [edit] Sorry but picture removed due to four letter Word, Sav

I would love to see the other posters and can't wait to see the t-shirt.... ;D ;D ;D

I know you have been waiting for the 'official' tips:-
8.00pm Table 1 - Lower Division Singles - M.Knight 2 v 0 D.Robins The quiet one v the most improved player of the season
8.00pm Table 2 - Mixed Doubles - Z.Stoner/K.Stoner 0 v 2 S.Hall/K.Hall Tried to give 'show boater' and Mr very loud a game but can't see it, the Peacehaven Posse to do the business. No doubt there will be some show boating and some loud chatter ::) :)
8.00pm Table 3 - Over 55s - C.Tupper 1 v 2 M.Pope Tupps saving himself for the big one
9.00pm Table 1 - Licensees - M.Adatepe 2 v 1 A.Graham Mert to win, but hopefully Alan will tire him out ;D
9.00pm Table 2 - Open Doubles - D.Ingram/B.Kerr 2 v 1 G.Chubb/J.Millward Expecting a very competitive match, the Competitions Secretary might have to employ a referee to keep the peace. Poor Bill has to deal with a part-time comedian and poor 4 times champ has to deal with the Chubbster, they have my sympathy and hope there will be enough time to play the match in between the banter ::) :-X ;D
9.00pm Table 3 - Lower Division Doubles - A.Reay/P.Reay 1 v 2 M.Knight/R.Pettiford No idea what might happen but it will be pretty noisy and competitive
10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 2 v 1 C.Tupper Two good mates but no friendship from Nige who is very much up for it ;)
10.00pm Table 2 - Mens Plate - M.Adatepe 2 v 1 M.Knight Too tired from all my hard work to beat my sparring partner from the Atlas
10.00pm Table 3 - Ladies Singles - S.Hall 1 v 2 B.Stoner Two great ladies and formidable opponents. Should do a Warrior and go for fence sit by going 2-1 either way, but can't do that. Bella's finals experience the difference - sorry Mrs H :-*

I know you have been waiting for the 'official' tips:- At long last.... the voice of reason is among us, pray be silent everybody and listen to the words of wisdom from our Competition Secretary.... on second thoughts, no need to be quiet as he normally puts a Town Crier to shame when it comes to the level of volume that he operates at! :o ;D 8.00pm Table 1 - Lower Division Singles - M.Knight 2 v 0 D.Robins The quiet one v the most improved player of the season I have not had the pleasure of meeting Darren, but would assume that he must be the quiet one of this pair.... so he is obviously playing the most modest player of the season! ::) :D 8.00pm Table 2 - Mixed Doubles - Z.Stoner/K.Stoner 0 v 2 S.Hall/K.Hall Tried to give 'show boater' and Mr very loud a game but can't see it, the Peacehaven Posse to do the business. No doubt there will be some show boating and some loud chatter ::) :) I just hope that neither of these pairs will be put off too much by the show boating and loud chatter from the table next to them.... :-/ 9.00pm Table 1 - Licensees - M.Adatepe 2 v 1 A.Graham Mert to win, but hopefully Alan will tire him out ;D Wishful thinking here.... Mert will be quite happy to get his cue moving for later in the evening. ;D 9.00pm Table 2 - Open Doubles - D.Ingram/B.Kerr 2 v 1 G.Chubb/J.Millward Expecting a very competitive match, the Competitions Secretary might have to employ a referee to keep the peace. Poor Bill has to deal with a part-time comedian and poor 4 times champ has to deal with the Chubbster, they have my sympathy and hope there will be enough time to play the match in between the banter ::) :-X ;D Are you really that worried about how Jim and Bill will behave.... :o :P As soon as the handle is pulled, I am sure that the banter will be forgotten.... and even if it isn't, we won't be able to hear it due to the noise that will be coming from table 3 in this match.... I9.00pm Table 3 - Lower Division Doubles - A.Reay/P.Reay 1 v 2 M.Knight/R.Pettiford No idea what might happen but it will be pretty noisy and competitive As his second lime and water of the evening starts to slide down, the decibels will be rising from one of the players here.... ;D 10.00pm Table 1 - Mens Singles - N.Senior 2 v 1 C.Tupper Two good mates but no friendship from Nige who is very much up for it ;) Okay, we all know that Nige is always "up for it".... but what about the bar billiards? :-[ ;D 10.00pm Table 2 - Mens Plate - M.Adatepe 2 v 1 M.Knight Too tired from all my hard work to beat my sparring partner from the Atlas Hard work....? Since when has playing a few games of bar billiards been hard work? :o We can only hope that you might have lost your voice by this time of night after non-stop banter for more than 2 hours.... ;D ;D ;D 10.00pm Table 3 - Ladies Singles - S.Hall 1 v 2 B.Stoner Two great ladies and formidable opponents. Should do a Warrior and go for fence sit by going 2-1 either way, but can't do that. Bella's finals experience the difference - sorry Mrs H :-* We probably shouldn't talk about my sitting on the fence, it may remind my neighbours of an unfortunate incident a couple of years ago.... :-[ ;D I'm really looking forward to next Wednesday, so many good games to look forward to and so much banter lined up for certain people.... :-X ;D ;D ;D
