Tell me honestly Tommo, what do you think of the new banner at the top of the website? Your design ? Love it. Credit where it's due.My 'beef' is on your attempt to over-ride a perfectly good innovation on ProBoards version 5 whereby a table can be produced with a single keystroke - no copy and pasting involved at all. And no tutorial on how to copy and paste needed ! I'm sure posters on the Brighton board will love your creation, and will use it, but I hope that those on Billingshurst, Horsham and Mid Sussex will not, as it is not compatible for transferring information to their individual websites. tommo

I'm sure posters on the Brighton board will love your creation, and will use it, but I hope that those on Billingshurst, Horsham and Mid Sussex will not, as it is not compatible for transferring information to their individual websites. tommo My beef Tommo, if I may be so blunt, is that I spent exstensive time and effort trying to give people another "option" and to more easally do something which I felt was a better, and very professional way tp present match scores. I think you will find that I have not, will not, was never intending to find a solotion for people running there own websites. Understanding how the native code works to create tables is a prelude to more things we can do, for example tournament brackets for local competitioons that can easilly be updated by the organiser. However, you have come into this thread, and despite my best efforts to show some cool things that can be done in version 5, have all but proclaimed my work pointless (or at the very least unessisary) purely because it doesn't meet your requirements and it's not your peronal taste. Really think about that mate, because it's the same as me coming into the 4-pin league threads as saying "What's the point of 4-pin because we already have a version of the game that's more widely played and everyone knows". I would of course never do that, but can't you see it's the exact same thing? Think about what you just said, you have told everyone watching that you hope they "don't" use something because it doesn't work for you. The real tradagy is that the logical next step would have been to get a spreadsheet that people use to administer there league, and put the code into that so they could simply and easilly press a button in the spreadsheet and it would all but post the entire thing nicely... cleanly into this forum..... at the press of a single button. Using VBA code in Excel, I already understanding the basics of that.... But of course, I never got the chance to even explain that did I.... because I was too busy trying to persude people they should give what I've done a go, rather than listen to you and not use it at all. I don't mind you or others not liking something, Im fine with that. But when you are spending time actually trying to counter my work with althernatives just because it's better for you and your needs, well I apologise for getting my my high horse, but I actually find that quite offensive and rude and frankly upsetting. With all due respect Tommo (and make no mistake mate, I truly do respect you) I'm trying to move things forward hear, to enhance a service vital to our game. That takes time, effort, and a willingness from people like me with certain sets of skills they are willing to share and teach an experiement with. But you my friend are really, really not helping. In fact you are actually hindering my efforts. So much so that i don't see the point anymore. Before I've even started, I'm going to get my slap down from you, even when I'm in the Brighton League thread communicating with Brightin League players. But these things can easilly be corrected. I'll take my programming skills, my photoediting and design skills (which in the case of the banner at the top of the page took 8 hours and would have cost any other company £100 minimum, and I was fullying intending to modify with less Brighton players once got permission from people to be in it) my website design skills, my willingness to help and go back into my little shell on my own. Because I'm tired and fed up now of having everything I try, do, experiment with and talk about being slapped down before Ive even had a chance to see it through. I'm done arguing and Im done being helpful. I'll go back to just playing my matches, and pray for the future of our game as a whole, rather than activly trying to improve it, encourage or enhance it. Thank you to those few people who gave some possitive comments. It was turly appreciated. PS. Does anyone want this barbilliards.jimdo.com/ I was intending it to be a portal for players who had never herd of the game before, a much needed site for Bar Billiards with the enphasis on new players learning what Bar Billiards is about and how it's played, something we absoluty NEED to survive. I was planning a youtube instructional video I was going to make showing everyone how to play the game etc (rather than just a rule book for anyone in England who wants to know how to play when they go to Google) and an in-depth comprehensive history of our game and I was going to do it for free. But as you can probably tell I'm done being helpful now. So if anyone wants it then let me know and I'll give you the log in details and you can take it over.

Your design ? Love it. Credit where it's due. Ok Glenn, I've touched a raw nerve and will answer all your points in turn without quoting huge chunks of text (which I and many others find a huge turn off) and will merely highlight where I attempted to offer a bit of praise. So I'll stay brief, as the larger a post the less likely in proportion can be ar$ed to read it. paragraph 1 - No concern of mine if you choose to spend a whole day giving us something we've got already. paragraph 2 That's a cheap shot at a whole community playing a different version of the game - do you have similar views about off-the-spot, or Triangles ? To me they're all "part of life's rich pageant" paragraphs 3 and 4 - Don't mind me, you go ahead and do what you want to do. But when I say it will be counter-productive using a coloured scorecard if people want me to maintain their League's website, I'm sure those people concerned will respond to that and co-operate accordingly. paragraphs 5 to the end - so you're going to take your ball home now......don't you think you're being a bit hasty ? You put loads of stuff up, ask for a reation or an opinion, and then you take the first ones offered - usually by Dave or me, and then go ballistic when we don't pay you lip service and tell you what you want to hear. I suggest that in future you completely ignore any future responses from me, and wait for what other people have to offer you in response (this you're not doing, you're jumping too early.) And I'll thank you to leave me out of everything in future, which means not quoting Tommo in any of your future examples or experiments. Cool It!

Yeah you have touched a raw nerv, and I will quote Tommo.
Here’s what gets me Sir, and it niggles away at me. If it’s of no concern to you, then may I ask why you bother commenting at all? Why respond to this thread at all? Do you see me taken part in discussion that have no concern to me? Please enlighten me, is the point of this forum purely to comment on everything regardless of topid, relevance or importance? See I’m trying to get my head around why someone would take part in a discussion that does not concern them?
I beg your pardon, but as you are very keen to point out to everyone in public, you are a self confessed technophobe. No problem with that, we all have different strength in different areas. But it is wrong for me to try and make a process simpler I the long run?
Why Tommo is it so, so so wrong for me to even try?
Far from it. I want to here constructive comments, I like that. It’s the only way people improve. That’s why this forum is here. Your comments Tommo are not constructive, they are dismissive. They do not help me, they offend me, purely because you don’t consider what might be best for other people. There is a big difference there.
So from where I’m sitting here, your being totally dismissive and passionately against my ideas about a subject that you state is not your expertise and that has no concern to you.
Therefore I will gladly quote this….
Apart from in the fun and games area, I actually don’t remember ever quoting or responding to anything you have ever put on the forum. I will however gladly comply with your request, however I must ask that you afford me the same respect.
And I ask that not because I don’t care about your opinion, but because in my eyes, you have just carried out the one thing I’m afraid I feel I can’t forgive you for. And it’s this……
I can only assume from that comment either 2 things. 1, you didn’t read my post, or 2, you really, really don’t like me as a person.
Because you will notice that I quite clearly stated that such a view is one I would never have. Let me quote what I said….
And just to make sure you and everyone understands, let me repeat the very relevant bit in my words….
Of course I don’t think nor would ever say that, and I actually SAID I would never say or do something like that. I asked you to consider HOW you would fell if I did something like that. But you here Sir have tried to make it look like I have, and that’s something that doesn’t sit well with me. So given the amount of time you spend on the forum, I can only assume that you did read my post, and understood it, but still tried to make me look a bad guy.
With that in mind, please don’t PM me or speak to me ever again. Thank you.

I think that's probably enough on this thread please - the heat is getting to us all and any more comment will make it worse. You have both made huge contributions to this Forum over the years and you should both recognise that fact.
thank you Tony

Thank you Tony, You are right to step in and thank you for doing so. But I can't let a mis-representation go without comment. I have NEVER claimed to be a "self-confessed technophobe" and I challenge anyone to quote where I have ! .... I have excellent programming skills. Tongues
