Evening everyone, great to be back playing again. And so we begin...... The Albion A vs The Blue Anchor C - Wed 2nd Oct 2013 | Kevin Stoner | 150 | 13,280 | Glenn Chubb | Always fun to play the first game. I found the table lightning fast to start with, but managed to make a rather slow 7k right off the bat. Kevin let me straight back in and after getting the balls back I ran the rest of the time out. 1-0 to the Blue Anchor. | Bella Stoner | 4,800 | 7,850 | Steve Mariner | Bella had her chances. She gave Steve a go at the break early on which he didn't take advantage of. After Bella had put and few more thousand up, Steve made no mistakes the second time around and ran out the rest of the game. 2-0 to the Blue Anchor | Kevin Hall | 810 | 13,240 | Geoff Jukes | I believe Geoff got a few thousand at the start, but when Kev came on he was unable to take advantage, and on Geoff's return he played very steady to wrap up the game with only a minute or so left. 3-0 to the Blue Anchor. | Lorenzo Hickman | 5,380 | 9,500 | Jim Millward | Lorenzo broke off but after a couple of grand left the one up short. Jim got slightly into the lead but came off (can't remember how). Lorenzo got the break back and on a couple of grand again left the one up short. Jim needed no second chance and won the frame, coming off (amazingly leaving the 1up short!) with only 3 minutes left. 4-0 to the Blue Anchor | Sandra Hall | 2,370 | 13,770 | Sue Mariner | I didn't see the start of the match, I was told is was a scrappy affair. One thing I do know is that Sue very rarely fails to take advantage of second chances, and I watched her play the rest of the game out taking the highest score of the night, but more impressively a break of 12,670, setting and early benchmark for the ladies high break. 5-0 to the Blue Anchor. | 0 | 5 | Breaks: Sue Mariner 12,670 |
Many thanks to our opponents and our hosts the Albion for the lovely food.

Branch v Romans - 02/10/2013 | Rose McGuiness** | 920 | 770 | Gemma Wilson | Zoe Stoner** | 180 | 3240 | Peter Aylemore | Darren Robins** | 1380 | 2160 | Matt 'Silent' Knight | Phil Reay** | 2990 | 2220 | Dave Roberts | Adam 'not so Silent' Reay** | 3420 | 1980 | Ross Pettiford | 3 | 2 | Breaks: |
Well our first game in the dizzy heights of Division 1 was against a Division 2 side at a pub where we always lose even with 3 breaks!!!!!! Of course we had none, still lost but played much better than normal. A slightly different line up might have seen the result reversed with the first game being pivotal in hindsight. Gemma just failing to put the 100 in first time which would have given her victory. 'Showboater' Stoner was off form tonight but Pete was a deserved winner. 'Silent' was finding it hard work and Darren had yet another chance of victory against me but couldn't take it as I got the break back - (first time in 3 legs covering 24 hours) with a minute to go . The problem was that it meant we were left with the 'silent' Reay and the 'loud' Reay with breaks. Phil making a late comeback to beat Dave and then Adam winning the decider with a fine early break and didn't we know about it Well done to the Branch, enjoyable night for most

Blue Anchor B 2 vs 3 Albion B Pete Hickman 2,310 3,010 Doug Dawson - I'm sure both of us are going to have better games this season Chris Oakley 4,710 1,670 Lauren Beales - Chris played the table the best of all of us Bob Thomas 1,770 2,560 Chelle Baden - This was another game that could have gone either way but Chelle just held on Colin Green 2,160 1,210 Lana Stoner - A scrappy effort from Colin and a good effort from Lana made this one close as well Pete Brown 2,010 2,940 Jean Brackenridge - We won't mention Jeans first break attempt!!!! but another close game saw the visitors stumble across the line.

No scores from the Black Horse.
Game 1. Mark beat Nige by potting the last ball in the 100 when the scores were level. 0-1 Game 2. Nick started with just under 2k, Ian got around 4k, Nick when got some more leaving Ian needing around 2k. Ian was going well on 1k when the bar dropped. 0-2 Game 3. I started with 3.5k (I think) then missed the ball. Gareth went on and scored then lost some. The game continued like that for a while until Gareth got going and finished the game on around 8k. 1-2 Game 4. Tim went on and lost his 7.5k opening break. Richard couldn't get going. Tim wrapped up the game with clearence. 1-3 Game 5. Marcus and the Canadian number 1 ranked player (I'm sorry I cannot remember his name) played out the final game with Marcus claiming the win. 2-3
A good night at The Black Horse with a fine speard supplied.

Embarrassingly enough I actually left a ball up 4 times in a row, twice on the 1 up and twice just on the break. Not gonna beat Jim like that lol One of the fastest tables you could ever play on and I leave it short, and don't learn from the first 3! Great night though nice to see some old faces again ;)
