I'm sure that all who knew 'Edge' will be sad to learn that he passed away in Worthing hospital today. Edge was one of the great characters of the game. By his own admission not the greatest player in the world, but lots of fun to have on a night out with his own brand of 'dry' humour.
We are going to miss him and send heart felt condolences to his wife Jeannette who is also fighting her own health battles at this time.

Sad news Alan, and a great character indeed, and just now and again he would take us by surprise with his skills on the bar billiards tsble. Had a terrific season in 2010 with Gina's team at the Windmill and took part in the 2010 Brighton Masters.
I will miss him being around when playing in Worthing events.
Condolences to Jeanette.

I can only echo what has been said above. Was shocked by the news when I was told this evening. Nothing but a pleasant man to have known, even when on the receiving end of a beating from him!
I shall remember him fondly even for the short time I knew him!

Sad day for everyone. Edge was a lovely chap, one of the nice guys of Bar Billiards. I do talk to some of his ex colleagues at the Post Office and I know they will be upset. Condolences to Jeanette and family.

Although not unexpected, it's still a shock when you hear this news. A lovely man who was a stalwart of the Worthing league for well over 40 years. Could be a tricky opponent, but won or lost always with a smile. I'll remember him cycling to matches with his queue resting on his handlebars. R.I.P. Edge

So sad that Edge (and his dry sense of humour) won't be with us anymore. He has been a very welcome part of the furniture for the 30+ years that I have played the game.
I remember now my last conversation with him earlier this summer at the bus stop opposite the M&D office near Worthing station. He was really upbeat about his upcoming operation. Very brave.
Condolences to his family.
R.I.P. Edge

I spoke with Jeannette today (Thursday)
Edges's funeral will take place at Worthing Crematorium at 11.20 on Monday 28th October.
There will be a chance to meet together afterwards at the Bull in Goring.
Jeanette has asked that donations be made to St Barnabus.

I will always remember Edge to be a true gentleman of the game, someone who I never herd say a bad word about anyone. Lovely guy, and he will be missed.
Rest in Peace old friend
