Did anybody see Put your Money where your Mouth is, on BBC one yesterday 30/01/2014, they were in Belgium at a antiques market and a Bar Billiard Table was being considered for sale. It looked a standard table and the Black peg was where it is supposed to be but there was no 200 hole behind it, the other holes looked correct, the white balls were a brownish colour. Has anybody seen a table like this ???.

Has anybody seen a table like this ???. Standard Billard Russe table that pre-dates Bar Billiards and what Bar Billiards was based on in the early thirties. Slates are basically 'Narrow Sams' dimensions. They go for very little in the French speaking areas and I have been over there, bought them, drilled the ninth hole and sold as Bar Billiards over here.
Take a look on the James Masters site (click here) for more info

I found myself watching Slovenian/Slovakian bar billiards on youtube recently and it was something similar to what you described Sav.
Very interesting as there was no obvious kind of alternative to the break shot or anything, it was just played at the top of the table!
