Has anyone ever had a pivot hole rebushed? at what cost?
I've a clock with a badly worn pivot hole on the main drive cog from the sliding bar. It occasionally stops. I'm guessing the teeth are locking up with the slack.
Strikes me, from the normal lack of maintenance, that this question will come up more often as time ticks on!

Sav. We have a BB playing clock repairer in Witney Sav (in fact we have three!) and he has worked wonders in the past (he does work for the National Trust). Let me see how he's fixed but it's his livelihood so he does charge albeit at a discount. Tony

Cheers Tony,
I'm going to see someone shortly, but suspect horrible pricing to drill a hole and slot a bush in.
Needless to say there is a spot-on bushing machine for clock movements on Ebay in YankeeLand but I cannot justify a one-off cost.

Found a nice guy down here that works from home and seemed very interested.
Some mongrel had tried to peen the edges of the pivot hole when he looked closely. Hopefully the cost to rebush the driving wheel and generally service will be about £50.
He also says that the bar springs are easily obtainable, but by the dozen.
Bar Billiards Timers, a first for him!

Further to this I'm not happy with the rack drive spring in this clock and have sourced and ordered half a dozen of same spec. at only £2.50 each
Will advise how successful.

New spring works fine and drives the clock noticeably further than the old. You can feel the difference in spring tensioning.
Spec
1.22mm wire 67mm length including loops 8mm spring diameter Central loops
If you are replacing an existing spring then make sure you half cock the bar pull on the ratchet prior to removing the clock, otherwise the residual tension in the rack will all be released as the clock drive pinion is disengaged and unrepairable damage may occur to the timer mech in my view.
