Well, what can I say about a night when records were broken.... The evening started fairly sedately.... Game 1. Gareth opened with about 4k and needed a couple more bites of the cherry to end up with his score finishing the game off with a nice 7k break at the end. Game 2. Martin G opened with just under 3k, Jim took several shots to get the balls back but then ran the table out with 15k. Game 3. Martin P broke down on just over 1k, Kev finished the game off with 17k. Game 4. I had quite a few excursions down the table but kept the break going to record a new personal best. Game 5. Fritz opened with an excellent 15.6k to give Glenn no chance, Glenn finished the game off. Game 6. Richard looked comfortable on his opening break before coming off, Nigel didn't getr the balls back first visit but then ran in 17k in just under 13 minutes. Game 7. Steve ran the table out for a brilliant 26,030 to totally eclipse everything that had happened earlier in the evning. The all-time highest team score in the history of the Sussex Inter League competition, beating the previous record of 107,730 set by Brighton A at the Stadium in Hove in April 2006 when they beat Worthing A 7-0. The first 25k plus break made in Sussex that was not made at the Stadium in Hove and the second highest break in inter league history.... and also the first 25k break to be made in Sussex since 2006. Perhaps it would be no surprise that Steve Mariner also holds the record for that with 26,140 at the Stadium in Hove in 1999. Steve also has the record for the highest break ever made by a Sussex player (27,350 in the Watney Mann cup in 2002) and has also hit 6 of the 8 breaks above 25k in Sussex history, the only other players to reach that landmark being Jim Millward (25,490 in 1997) and Nigel Senior (25,330) in 2006. Many thanks to our opponents who were very sporting in defeat, also to the Albion for their hospitality and a nice selection of sandwiches on the night.

I'll add my congrats to my team mates, who broke the record tonight without me! I dearly wish I could have been a part of it, but my opponent clearly had other ideas. Well done to him though.
It's worht point out another interesting stat for the night, a total of 136,290 points were scored by all players, that's an average of 19,470 a leg! I don't know but im thinking that is probably a record in itself..
Big well done to Dave for his highest ever break thus far, and as for Steve, there are no words to describe how brilliant he played. By far the best break I have ever seen, from probably one of the best players there has ever been, so well done mate, and indeed well done to all.....
