Fantastic coverage from Sean.........tommo will add some snapshots in between walking the dog. So on to the Singles: final positions for 11 groups already displayed on Jersey website: No mistake this year from Nigel in Group 1, Tupps is confined to the Plate. "Our Ros" is runner-up in group 2. No real surprise as Gallienne, KT and Tony Cross breeze through in 3,4 and 5. Chocie Mepham wins a very strong Group 6 with two former W/C Finalists. Jersey's Dave Lomax takes Group 7 from some strong mainland competition. Paul Sainsbury and Martin Smith win groups 8 & 9, these groups will now provide some strong Plate competition. Alan Brackenridge wins Group 10, confining Nigel Ryall to the Plate. And Jersey's Alan Giquel wins a competitive Group 11.

Groups 12 to 22 now visible......... Kyle Ingram upholds the family name in Grp 12; Phil Osborne maintains his form of yesterday, winning Grp 13; Jean makes it a Brackenridge double, confining Big TJ to the Plate in the process; Mat Ogier flies the flag for Guernsey, the evergreen Harry Barbet is confined to the Plate; Three players tied in Grp 16, Kevin Charlton wins through on aggregate; Nipper wins group 17 from a strong line-up, Pete Sainsbury is despatched to the Plate. Current Jersey No.1 James Jeanne breezes through in Group 18.... ...and the shock of the round in Grp 19 where Jersey's Ash Malorey eclipsed three of the best from the mainland (Lelliott, Wooton and Clough). Seasoned campaigner Bill Houlton of Pompey knocks Silent into second place in Grp 20; Three-way ties both in groups 21 and 22, Boball shading it from Sparky and Coleman III, and Curt edging it from Fred Jeanne and the Pathfinder.

Groups 23 to 34 are now advised: a mixture of some easy-to-predict table toppers - and some real shocks....... The reigning champ is through, as is recently-crowned AEBBA Off-the-spot winner Matthew Jones; Ian Champion of Guernsey ousts Sav who has to be content with 2nd place; Huge shocks in Groups 26 and 27 with Traffs and Phil Collins both 3rd and therefore in the Plate: Surrey's David Jones and Kent's Richard Corbould inflict the damage. No shock in Group 28 with Jim Millward going through. A late entry in Group 29, Jersey's Nick Barnett - a former runner-up - means Gandalf has to be content with a 2nd place and former champion Alan Le Blond is dumped into the Plate. More shocks in Groups 30, 31 and 32 with Geoff Jukes, Bob Chapple and Simon Coleman all 3rd-placed: James Pallot, Paul Barnett and Matthew Malorey proceed at their expense. Two men of Kent - the Rooster and Mike Callanan - top Groups 33 and 34 to complete the list of group winners.

Although it all made fascinating reading for us armchair viewers, it will be good to hear some first-hand accounts from those who were actually there ! For instance, the drama surrounding the Final where poor James seems to have blown a winning position. Well done to Paul Sainsbury, though, on finally becoming World Champ: he came so close against KT a few years back. Perhaps young James will be able to follow suit.

Will be posting some video of the new champ but not tonight.
Just got back from nightmare journey with plane taking off from Jersey and making horrible noises once in the air and turning straight around to make emergency landing back in Jersey with fire-trucks the lot. Turned out an inspection hatch had come away, but the noise! Second attempt resulted in the worst landing I've known, turning cartwheels and doing hop, skip and jump down the runway. Boat if I go again!!
Great weekend and thanks to all the Jersey organisers and Nigel for the tables. Well done to Paul, I had my chance against him after he blacked his opener in the quarters but failed miserably.
